No way. Matt Harpring is the last remaining Jazzman from the Stockton/Malone days. He's tough, gutsy--an old-style Utah player. Can't give him up, sorry. Never.

Deron, Dee and Luther reunited would be awesome.
But if the Bobcats trade for Rashad McCants, you're

Come on. It's the new era now. Stockton and Malone are gone. Let go.

Really? Gee, thanks for that astounding revelation. I just knew there was something missing in the Jazz lineup this past couple of seasons, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
That old-style Jazz mindset--the Stockton and Malone mindset--is the Jazz at their best. It's what Coach Sloan teaches, and what he expects. Matt Harpring is the personification of that style now, the only one now that even Osterlump has retired. No way we give Matt up.

Re: Deeeeeeeeeeeeee For Threeeeeeeeeeee
Harpring only played 1 season with malone and stockton in 02-03 season. Then stockton retired, malone went to L.A. And harping got injured that next season. Harpring is a good player, but he isn't that good. I like the idea of him coming off the bench at the 3.

Holding onto the the old-style mindset hasn't gotten this team to contention.

It's Jerry Sloan and that "old-style mindset" that got the Jazz one losing season after their stars departed, instead of the...How many was it?...six or so? that the Bulls, for example, had. The popular style of the game and players change, that's only natural, but some things stay the same: Jerry Sloan, hard-nosed Jazz basketball, and the mindset that's driven this franchise for twenty years.
Matt may've only played with Stockton and Malone for a year, but if he's patterned himself after anybody it's those two--and his coach. Gutsy, never-give-up, mean-spirited IOW, the perfect Sloan player and the classic Jazzman. No, he's not that good a player; he's solid and gives a decent performance with all the heart in the world, but he's never going to be an All Star or anything. Point is, he doesn't have to be. He makes up for in determination and sheer balls what he may lack in natural talent and ability.
Matt Harpring's what's left of what was our best. It'd be a sin to let him walk.

Re: Deeeeeeeeeeeeee For Threeeeeeeeeeee
By 'Sloan-type player', do you mean just a hustle player? Hustle players aren't uncommon - Reggie Evans, Danny Fortson, Quinton Ross, Shane Battier, Scalabrine, etc.
