Suddenly the Jazz bench looks pretty good.

Totally. Great trade for the Jazz but I'm not sure what the heck Golden State was thinking. I guess the cap space is better for them than having a decent PG when Davis gets injured.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
I honestly don't mind his "ugly" contract. With what free agents the Jazz have been able to land (pfft.. none) in the past few years, our cap space does not concern me. Once the rooks take off and we actually have a decent bench (maybe as early as next year), we're talkin good, deep playoff runs, cap space or not.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
Maybe Fish could teach the young PGs a few things.
Also helps outside shooting.

Yes, and it also explains why they didn't take a 3 point shooter in this years draft, i bet they were having talks with GS about it before.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
O wow...
David Stern should just mail the Jazz the championship rings right now, because with combination of derek fisher and Rafael Araujo, It's like a 1-2 combination that rivals Dwayne Wade and Shaquille Oneal..
Derek Fisher, believe the hype, hes bringing the championship to Utah baby....yea thats right, I saw his clutch shooting, 1 second on the clock? pfft, derek fisher needs only 0.4 seconds.....
Rafael Araujo? Is Rob Babcock a retard? I think not.....Theres a reason why this man was taken ahead of such players as Andre Iguodala, and Jameer Nelson, Babcock's track record speaks for itself, Araujo is a BEAST....Hes going to TRIPLE his average, thats like 6 points and 9 rebounds a game, Howm any guys in the nba can boast that they increased there production by 300%? Wade? nope, Lebron? nope, Kobe? nope ,Araujo? YES!

sorry, I was just trying to be funny....
But seriously, the fisher trade was awesome for the team, getting rid of 3 soso players for 1 solid player is a good move.....
And u guys acquiring ARaujo was a good move too, U only gave up humphries who wasnt goign to do anythign with in this system, and acquired a guy that can potentially break out given the change of scenery...If Araujo can become a 10/8 player with 1-2 blocks, u guys ran away with this trade...
A full healthy season from Boozer and AK 47 and okur gives them an outstanding 3-4-5 combination, and having deron williams is aheck of a pg too....not sure whos starting at the 2 for u guys..(harpring?) but your bench will be solid too with fisher, giricek, araujo, snyder, etc........

Our bench will be especially solid if we can now have people sit on it, that belong to other teams!
...By the way, Snyder plays in New Orleans.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
Thanks, it just sounded like you were a troll on your last post. But I think the lineup will be...
Williams - Fisher - Brown
Fisher - Brewer - Miles
Kirilenko - Harpring
Boozer - Millsap
Okur - Collins - Aruajo

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
For all that we're happy about Fisher being in Utah, he's apparently not so thrilled. This isn't a bit encouraging, in terms of him producing at his highest capability:
Quote:
July 13
Having heard like everyone else that Derek Fisher seemed reluctant about coming to Utah after they had reached an agreement to trade for him, Jazz senior vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor jumped on an airplane last Friday to have a 105-minute face-to-face meeting with the Golden State Warriors' guard.
"What he said to Kevin," said Jazz owner Larry H. Miller, "was, 'I don't have anything against you guys. I was pretty sure I was going someplace else.' He didn't say where, but he said, 'I had my heart set on a couple of places.' "
"That was kind of what he was feeling," Miller said. "It just took the wind out of his sails."

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
FIsher is a worker and will do his job no matter where he is. He just didn't want to leave because they just were getting settled. But he should like it in Utah, and the jazz are in a better position than the warriors to make the playoffs next season.

I hope you're right, AK. I'm iffy about a guy who's 1) past his prime and, 2) isn't enthusiastic about being in Utah and playing for the Jazz.
Hope I'm just being depressing here.
