Derek Fisher joins Jazz
The Jazz and Golden State plan to pull the trigger on a four-player trade that would bring veteran point guard Derek Fisher to Utah. The Salt Lake Tribune has learned - barring an unexpected hitch - the Jazz will send Devin Brown, Keith McLeod and Andre Owens to the Warriors in exchange for Fisher, a 10-year veteran. The deal will be completed after Owens signs a free-agent contract with the Jazz next week - a step that is necessary to make the trade adhere to NBA salary requirements.

Great ship out 3 scrubs for a proven vet in Fisher just hope he doesn't eat too many of Deron's minutes but we will have to see. What I like most about this trade is it frees up 2 spots on the roster.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
SWEET.. this better not take away from Deron tho.. I'm sure it will for Dee though.. his chances of making the Jazz after this may not be good!
At least McLeod got traded so I guess there's still a chance for him as the 3rd PG
However it doeos free up some spots.. hopefully Dee and Powell have a chance of making it even more.. could be a good thing for em, may not be!

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
Powell?
Is he some dude on the summer league invitee list?
Dee would need to be learning anyway, and Fisher can probably play some 2 (like Speedy Claxton next to Paul)
Gives the Jazz some clutch offence too, and Brown wouldnt be playing much if Giricek was back this year, and with Ronnie Brewer now here too.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
I love this. Over the weekend the jazz agreed to a deal for harpring. Today we bring in a guy that is clutch and is a quality backup. So now, here is what the jazz are looking like on opening day
PG---Deron, Fischer, Brown, Pilacio
SG---Giricek, Brewer, C.J.
SF---Kirilenko, Harpring
PF---Boozer, Milsap
C----Okur, Araujo, Collins
This has the appearance of a team that can show a lot of looks and could potentially be in the playoffs.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
lineup after the deal.
Deron - Fisher - dee brown
Gircek - brewer - miles
kirilenko - harpring
boozer - (fa signing) - millsap
okur - collins - aruajo
All 3 rookies will make the team. if we sign 1 FA at PF spot that is 14 roster right there.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
I think I like this, but not sure
I'm always going to remember the .4 shot Fisher made for the Lakers a couple years back to mess up the Spurs the year Malone was there. Great sharp-shooter/lucky shot, but...
Well, he's really not done all that much for the Warriors, has he? Remember, he was the pg who was going to get them to the Playoffs...and that sure didn't happen.
Still, we get rid of sludge and free up roster spots for our rookies, so wth, right?

I doubt Milt is here next year. So I think Dee will easily make the team.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
I like the signing of Baron, or eventual signing. We need a vet guard on the team to help with the development of the younger guards. I really don't like the finance of it, but I love the basketball decision. Well done teawm

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
Signing of Baron?
Speaking of Davis, Golden State wasn't supposed to be "led by Fisher to the playoffs". Golden State was flat out abysmal when they signed him, and now that they signed Baron Davis, HE was supposed to take them to the playoffs. ESPN was in love with the warriors before last season started and Fisher had nothing to do with it.
Keep in mind, Fisher averages about 11 points, 4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Put him behind Deron and he's probably the best backup PG in the league. Sure as hell beats Palacio and McLeod.

Re: Derek Fisher joins Jazz
enjoy fisher you guys. He is clutch for game winning shots. Good trade. Devon Brown I like his game and Keith McCloed great point guard. When we came to play you guys he couldn't miss, glad he on out side now. Good luck for next season.

Glad you feel that way. Also, thanks for taking our garbage out
Devin Brown and Keith McLeod will be good additions to help you with your cap space. It was more of a cap relief for you guys than anything.
