Here is a short article from their Jazz beat writer. No real surprise.
Quote:
Four days ago, Jazz owner Larry H. Miller said top assistant Phil Johnson would be his first choice to succeed Jerry Sloan as the team's head coach should Sloan decide to retire.
Saturday, Johnson declined to comment on his potential interest in the prospect of moving into Sloan's seat.
"I'm not even going to speculate until he (Sloan) decides what he is going to do," Johnson said.
Johnson seemed confident Sloan would return for a 16th season as the Jazz's head coach, but he suggested he can't be certain of that.
"He hasn't given me any indication," said Johnson, Sloan's right-hand man in Utah since December of 1988.
