Sloan will return

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,500033210,00.html

Bad news for those of you who want to see drastic changes in the Jazz philosophy. Sloan is returning. As I said in a thread yesterday, I think this means that Sloan plans on coaching for several more years. I don't think he will retire after his contract expires next year. The fact that he is coming back probably means that he will stay through the rebuilding. I expect this means he will coach the Jazz at least 4-5 more years.

Do you think he can do it? He is the guy that lead a young Jazz team from a team fighting to get into the playoffs every year to a title contender. He did it once. Can he do it again? Can he meld players and system into a title contending team.

There is supposed to be a teleconference today with Jerry Sloan at 2:00pm MST. That would be 4pm MST. Here is a link to a station that says they are going to carry it live.

He can do it, and I thought he would be back as well. Stupid media made too big a fuss over this.

Not only is he coming back to coach 02-03 but he also extended his contract for 2 additional years. He will coach at least 3 more years. I think it is good for the Jazz. Stability in management is part of what has made the jazz successful.

I like it. Why get rid of Sloan? He's been a fixture in our franchise forever, and is a perennial candidate for coach of the year.

However...Larry Miller said that there will have to be some changes in his coaching style to adapt to their current personnel. Yay.
