unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 1:
Rockets 98 - 95 Jazz
The Jazz looked to be the better team, the deeper team, and were in control up until the Rockets made a late run, led by Rafer Alston. At one point, the Jazz held a 13-point lead in the third quarter. But, once McGrady, Yao and Alston came off the bench, the momentum shifted.
The Jazz had a chance to take a late lead when Boozer missed a 12-foot jumpshot from the left side with 2.5 seconds remaining. Yao grabbed the rebound and the Rockets called a timeout. The Jazz subbed in Brewer to guard Alston, who had been hot from 3-point range all night. During the inbound, Brewer was screened off and Alston hit the game-winning 3-pointer leaving only 0.2 on the clock.
The Jazz look to rebound Friday against the Phoenix Suns.

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 2:
Suns 124 - 120 Jazz
The Jazz appeared to be re-focused against the Suns, jumping out to an early 25-11 lead, led by Deron Williams' 11 points, 3-3 from 3-point range, as well as 4 assists and 3 steals in just the first 6 minutes of the game. The Jazz sustained their pace through the first half, scoring a scorching 69 points in the first half, on an equally overwhelming 69% from the field, as well as 7/8 from 3-point range.
The second half slowly turned the tides in Phoenix's favor as the depths of the bench ran the court for the Jazz. Dee Brown and Paul Millsap saw a great deal of playing time, but during their stretch, the Suns cut the lead to 8 points before the starters were re-inserted. The Suns did not stop there and eventually went on a run to tie the game at the end of the 3rd quarter, 95-95.
The fourth quarter was back and forth between the two teams. The Jazz took a 6 point lead, but then, mysteriously, could not even make a dunk or a wide-open lay-up down the stretch... what could be causing that? Hmm... it couldn't be totally noticable computer assistance, could it? Of course, the Suns started making every 3-pointer you could imagine and took a late lead. The Jazz eventually battled back by getting to the free throw line. With the game tied and 45 seconds remaining, the Suns missed a wide open layup, the Jazz took it back, and turned it right back over. Diaw ran back, scored an open lay-up and the Suns had the lead 122-120 with 15.5 seconds remaining. Deron Williams isolated, got a very good screen, but then missed a wide open lay-up and the Suns knocked down two free throws to seal the game. Computer assistance, anyone? Gee, what a mystery...
Jazz
Ronnie Brewer - 22pts, 3stl, 4ast
Deron Williams - 21pts, 12ast, 4stl
Carlos Boozer - 17pts, 9reb, 9ast
Mehmet Okur - 16pts, 6reb

Suns
Steve Nash - 23pts, 13ast

Shawn Marion - 19pts, 16reb, 4ast

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Cool I get to read another Jazz chise. Head coming off the bench for 18 is what I think won them the game.

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 3:
Jazz 134 - 129 Warriors (OT)
The Jazz came out seeming a bit lost. They eventually picked up the pace and took an 8-point lead into halftime.
The Warriors quickly battled back and shot 80% during the 3rd quarter to take the lead by 3 points, heading into the fourth. The Jazz's bench took over during the beginning of the fourth quarter and tied the game within just a minute of the period starting, with a dunk from Millsap, a 3-point attempt taken by McLeod of the Warriors that was emphatically rejected by Fisher resulting in a shot-clock violation, and a 3-point play by Fisher to tie the game. The bench held the score knotted until the starters could return. At that point, the rookie Ronnie Brewer took over for the Jazz, leading an incredible, late comeback by scoring two buckets, as well as nabbing two key steals in the final 20 seconds to bring the Jazz back from a 6-point defecit with only :50 remaining. Golden State then had a shot to win the game, with the score knotted at 120, but Richardson was double-teamed and Fisher forced the jumpball and amazingly won the tip! The Jazz brought the ball up with 9 seconds remaining, and Kirilenko took the final shot of regulation from the baseline, narrowly missing and forcing overtime.
The overtime period was started with Williams missing a runner in the lane, but Kirilenko flying in for a follow-jam to give the Jazz an early 2-point lead. The two teams battled until the Jazz had a great opportunity to split the game open late in the overtime session. Brewer found himself wide open with a jumpshot off a Boozer doubleteam, missed, Boozer grabbed the board and found Williams for a wide open three and he drilled it to give the Jazz a 5-point lead with 32 seconds remaining. The Warriors then turned the ball over immediately and the Jazz closed the game out with free throws to net their first win of the regular season.
Jazz
Ronnie Brewer - 31pts, 4ast, 2stl, 13-15 FGs

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Being that he is a tall guard, he got off a lot of shots against the smaller guys guarding him the last couple of games. He also benefits from Boozer and Okur double teams... they don't give him the respect, so I rain it on them.

I would let a ball hog shoot every day with a 13-15 from the field.

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 4:
Pistons (2-1) vs Jazz (1-2)
The Jazz jumped out quickly and looked to build upon their first win of the season. After the first quarter, Chauncey Billups managed to break a finger while trying to stop a Kirilenko/Williams fast break. He would return to the game but it was a dismal outlook for the Pistons as their confidence also seemed to be broken in front of the Delta Center crowd. By halftime, the Jazz had built their lead up to 18 points as the Pistons inexplicably rested Wallace, Hamilton and Prince for the entire 2nd quarter.
The Pistons made an attempt to get back into it during the 3rd, but as the Pistons narrowed the lead to 8 points, Gordan Giricek hit a half-court buzzer-beater to end the quarter and boost the Jazz's lead back up to a comfortable, double-digit margin.
The Jazz continued to resist the Pistons' attempts at a comeback, Billups continued to brick everything he shot, and the Jazz actually managed to fend off a late run and improve to 2-1 at the Delta Center this season. The Jazz had seven players in double-figures, and committed only 7 turnovers for the entire game.
Jazz 101 - 88 Pistons

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 5:
Jazz (2-2) @ Nets (0-2)
The story of the game began with the first half being lackluster from both teams, with a bushel of turnovers and low field-goal percentage.
The second half, the two teams exchanged big blows as the Nets broke open a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter, but shortly after, the Jazz narrowed it back down to 3 with a big run led by Carlos Boozer. By the end of the third, the Jazz closed the gap to a mere 1-point lead held by the Nets.
The Jazz finally took the lead for the first time since midway through the 1st quarter off an offensive rebound and putback cashed in by Matt Harpring, with 9 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The Jazz continued to hang tough until they took a 5-point lead with 3 minutes remaining off a wide-open Deron Williams 3 and a turnaround jumper by Kirilenko. The Nets had a chance to send it to overtime with less than 8 seconds remaining and down by 3 points, but confusingly opted to go for the 2 and foul, and hope for a desperation shot to win. Carter took the inbound and buried a 20-footer leaving 1.4 seconds on the clock. The Jazz heaved the ball down the floor and the Nets could not do anything at that point, ending the game. What silly coaching.
Jazz 95 - 94 Nets
Jazz
Carlos Boozer - 25pts, 16reb
Deron Williams - 14pts, 5ast
Ronnie Brewer - 13pts, 5ast

Re: unlucky's 2k7 Jazz season
Game 6:
Jazz (3-2) @ Celtics (1-3)
The Jazz continued their road swing into Boston.
The game opened with neck-and-neck play, however it was sloppy, filled with turnovers and missed, simple shots. The trend continued for one team...
The second half spelled Utah's doom, as Boston broke the game wide open in the 3rd quarter, led by Wally Szczerbiak. The Jazz got pummelled on the glass 61-38, shot 3/18 from 3-point range, and also got outscored off the bench 67-31. Even the Celtics' 23 turnovers and the Jazz's 14 steals was not enough to overcome sloppy shot selection and waivering defense in the second half.
Celtics 102 - Jazz 87
Jazz
Carlos Boozer - 18pts, 10reb
Deron Williams - 12pts, 6ast, 2stl
Andrei Kirilenko - 12pts, 6reb, 5ast, 4stl, 3blk

Gordan Giricek - 9pts
Celtics
Wally Szczerbiak - 30pts, 10ast
Delonte West - 14pts, 9ast
Paul Pierce - 12pts, 15reb
