AK47 numbers down for the year?
Along with being just a casual fan of Kirilenko, Im also the "happy" owner of him in a fantasy keepers league. Im a little worried about his numbers for the Jazz. He started with a cold shooting touch last year too, that doesn't worry me. But Boozer seems to snap up all the rebounds and Deron Williams all the assists. Even the better team defense seems to cut down on the weak side help D blocks...
This is all good for the Jazz (though I think AK's passing could be utilised better), but do you all agree with my outlook at the Kirilenko fantasy potential? Slight drop in all categories?

AK starts the season slow, then picks it up strong. No need to worry about him yet.

He does really come on a lot during the last part of the season.
You should check out his NBA.com player file and check out monthly season splits.

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
But as I wrote, I know AK will bounce back, he always starts of cold. My concern is more the new make up of the team. Deron is running the show, thus fever isolationplays for AK, fever assists and fever points. Boozers rebounding will keep AKs numbers down in the cat too... even if he steps it up.
Do you guys really not see this as a trend that will continue? You think he will get hot and regain his statistical dominance?

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
I think AKs scoring will really drop, especially if the team continues playing like it has, because AKs scoring won't be important. He will still be getting blocks, and rebounds, and assist ect. I actually expect his block numbers to go up since he won't be focusing so much effort on offense.

Oh wait... maybe you can't. I don't know. I thought there was a way to do it, but maybe you can't.

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
Scoring and assists will go down. Rebounds should stay the same. Blocks and steals should stay the course or maybe increase.
A big reason for the drop off in defensive numbers this year so far is that we've played a lot of scoring 3s, Carter/Jefferson, Pierce, McGrady, Marion. He's had to play a more solid one on one defense rather than roaming. With teams going small this year, he's had to guard what has normally been a 2.

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
It troubles me that Utah is winning without my main man AK47. Will they try to protect his fragile body by playing him below 30 min per game untill the playoffs?
Will Millsapp eat into his minutes?
Is Millerzapping for real? His stats look oh so tasty!

O hell yeah Millsap is for real!
And AK got hurt, it still is early season. Once he gets back the Jazz will be that much better.

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
OK, so AK will return tonight... right?
I could see his regular season minutes cut to prevent more injuries. Do you think they will try to get him more involved on offense? It seems to get him going. Maybe make a few set plays for him in the opening quarter!?

Yes AK will be back. And I cannot tell you what Sloan will use him for. That is for him to decide, because I have no clue what Sloan is thinking.

Well, if you had I'm sure a lot of teams would pay you a lot of money. The guy is doing great. Andrei blocked and blocked, had some assists. But only one shot? and only one board?
How did he look, comfortable? Was he in any way part of what they were doing on offense?

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
He ran a lot of the UCLA cut three man game on the wing and made passes to spots and not players. One of them was at the weirdest angle, but our guy got to it and scored. A couple turnovers on the same philosophy thought. Only Kirilenko would make those passes. Williams wouldn't make passes like that.

Re: AK47 numbers down for the year?
AK still brings it! Some games we can use him more for offense, and some games are like the last one where he just focused on doing every thing else.
