Jazz's Williams Reminiscent of Another Utah Point Guard..
Great article about Deron that I thought you guys would enjoy.
SALT LAKE CITY — John Stockton has been out of uniform since 2003, but even at 44 the NBA's all-time assists and steals leader looks as if he could dish 10 assists a game.
That's the word from Deron Williams, who spent four days in Spokane, Wash., working on his craft with the retired point guard, a likely Hall of Famer. The two-a-day sessions last summer, after a rough and tumble rookie season, have paid off for the point guard from Illinois.

Thanks for the link. We can finally compare Deron and Paul. Before it looked like Deron wasn't even going to be close to the ROY of last year. They are 2 great players that will be compared to each other their entire careers. I bet when its all said and done, that both will be in the HOF. Both are playing good for their ages and are not slowing down.

Re: Jazz's Williams Reminiscent of Another Utah Point Guard..
What irked him was preseason debate about the next great point guards in the league.
"I read stuff," he says. "My name wasn't even on the list. They said Shaun Livingston, Raymond Felton, Chris, guys like that. I feel that's a slap in the face. I've been doubted all my life. That's what I used as motivation. I hope people keeping overlooking me."
I guess he was reading forums and ESPN a lot.

A likely Hall of Famer?? Are they serious? He's easily a Hall of Fame Player. Is there a 50's Greatest player who isn't in the HOF?

I noticed that, too. First time I haven't seen Stockton being referred to as "Future Hall of Famer."

Deron is awesome. I didn't realize that Dee was on the Utah roster, I think that might be another small factor in Williams' great start to the season. Having his best friend on the same team couldn't hurt his confidence and attitude.

Re: Jazz's Williams Reminiscent of Another Utah Point Guard..
I did a piece on Deron for the upcoming December Issue of SWISH Magazine and he raved about how much he learned from Stockton. In addition, people have counted this dude out since he was in high school. He told me that while he was attending ABCD camp in high school, people told him he didn't shoot the ball enough to be a big time player. Wonder what the folks who uttered those words are thinking now?
As it stands at the moment, he's playing the best all around basketball of any point guard in the league -- including Steve Nash. The only reason Nash has a statistical advantage in some areas is because of the up-temp style the Suns play.

Re: Jazz's Williams Reminiscent of Another Utah Point Guard..
That is the identity of this Jazz team. Most of the players on this team were all underrated. Boozer and Okur were taken in the 2nd round. CP3 was declared the best from the draft class in 1 year. Deron has always had to prove to people that he could bring his game up, and he continues to not disappoint.
You should do an article on how the jazz players have been the underdogs most of their careers and how they have overcome that and are now playing the best ball they have ever played.
