Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
Who eould you pick as the Jazz greatest C off all time.
I saw the SG thread and I was inspired.
I would have to go with Biz Mark-E
"The read headed blocking machine"

I agree, while he wasn't on offensive threat so much his defense was incedible. If he played today he would be concidered one of the greatest players in the league.

Did you know the Jazz found him under a car when they recruited him? He was a mechanic. he just stuck his hands in the air and came up with blocks.

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
The story I heard was that when Mark was done at UCLA he called Frank Layden and Layden took a chance and drafted him in the fourth round. Layden later saying that "you cannot teach height." And he did not regret the signing of Biz Mark-E

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
What's funny is that the Ostertag proposition is really not a bad one. He's probably the second best Center, unless you could count Truck Robinson as a C.
Ostertag did have some really decent years when he was here.
I'd still say Eaton. He had a few seasons where he was close to 5 blocks a game. HIs career average was 3.5 blocks per game and is second in NBA history in total blocks behind Kareem. Quite the achievement because Kareem played for like 20 years, whereas Eaton played 11.

You also have to remember that in Kareems first 4 seasons they did not keep track of bloks. And statwise that was his 4 best seasons so you could probably add over 1200 blocks to his total

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
Oh yeah.... thanks for reminding me.
3.5 BPG for a career is still not shabby at all. That would have lead the NBA in blocks each year, the last 10 or so years.

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
While the immortal Danny Schayes had his one good season as a member of the Jazz, I don't see how anyone can argue against Eaton.

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
Mehmet Okur is the second best center the Jazz have had. third is Ostertag, and fourth is Rich Kelly, Shayes would probably be fifth, and Joe C Meriweather sixth.

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
Well, out of our top 3 centers the jazz have had. Okur has a ring. Imagine AK and Okur with Malone, Stockton, and Hornacek. Too bad the jazz couldn't of got a better supporting cast back then. Because the team we have now has a better supporting cast when you minuss deron/boozer.

Re: Greatest Jazz C' of all time?
I don't want to look it up, but Olajuwon is the career leader in blocks.
