GT: Jazz vs Raptors

Sorry about not having a game thread up fast enough. I have been really busy lately. The jazz win an impressive win over the top Atlantic team.

Nice to see Boozer keep taking it strong, even though he gets rejected from time to time.

That pass from Kirilenko to Boozer between the legs was awesome!

Okur has been ripping it up lately, too.

Re: GT: Jazz vs Raptors

This is an oldie thread, but I was at that game.

Deron Williams was spec-freaking-tacular. (My attention was mostly focused on him all night, as you'll soon tell.) He wasn't shooting very well and didn't rack up all that impressive stat totals, but he did what a floor general and point guard should do in the fourth quarter: he got the ball into the frontcourt, passed to the wing players, moved away from the ball and made things happen without the basketball in his hands. He almost gave both Bosh and Bargnani concussions on vicious blind screens he set in the fourth quarter. That may not seem impressive, but when you stop to think that in doing so and not dominating the ball, the offense was moving, the defense was forced to work, and the ball was getting inside to Boozer down the stretch. He also broke TJ Ford's ankles about 5 or 6 times in the course of the game and got into the lane at will - not easy to do.

Defensively, my boy D-Will is a wunderkind. I generally have low estimations of all PGs defense in the NBA, because they pretty much all equally are irrelevant, but apart from a few blatant examples of not being prepared for Jose Calderon's useage of high screen-and-rolls, he looked great. Captained their 2-3 zone like a genius.

Okur was marvellous, giving Bargnani a lot of things to think about for what he could become in a few years. Scored at will in the post, and he brought out a lot of Toronto-area Turkish folks to the game, which was neat to see.

Boozer was great, Millsap was passable, Kirilenko looked like a very good role player instead of an All-Star, Giricek was awful - typical Jazz night.

This ended up being a solid Jazz win and also a good learning experience for Toronto. Shortly after this game they went on a nice run.
