Draft talk?
utah has the 25th and 55th pick in the upcoming draft. who do you think the jazz should draft?
at #25 i'd look at:
morris almond- best shooter in the draft...pure SG and seems like he'd be ready to contribute right now
rodney stuckey- i like stuckey a lot but he's kind of a tweener at 6-4 playin SG....he did measure 6'5 at camp though and can flat out ball
sean williams- defensive athletic center which is what the jazz need...very good shot blocker. i think he could be a steal
#55
glen davis
stephan lasme
ali traore
caleb green

Re: Draft talk?
Most draft sites believe Stuckey is going to Detroit at 15, so I don't really think he'll be around at 25. How about Jard Dudley? He's moved up quite a bit in the last month. He's a tough, skilled player that could come in and play some good minutes.

Re: Draft talk?
no wonder i never post in the jazz section....cant even get a discussion goin
why jared dudley? sean williams is much better than him and will probably be around at 25. i dont think dudley will be any good in the nba plus hes out of shape. dudley is a 6-7 SF.....how many of those do the jazz have already? williams is exactly what utah needs, an athletic defensive center.
the jazz seem to be high on almond so im hopin he falls to 25 or the jazz trade up a few picks to get him. they could try tradin into the lottery to nab nick young from usc. nbadraft.net has him at 13.

Re: Draft talk?
Who/what could the Jazz trade to move up? Andrei Kirilenko name is popping up every where online, but Kevin O'Connor says that Andrei is not on the trading block. I doubt that anybody wants to have somebody like Gordon Giricek or Jarron Collins.
I don't watch college ball, so I don't know anybody besides the top two, Durant and Oden, and a few other players, but from what I read so far, I like Morris Almond. I think that the Jazz needs a sharp shooter before a defensive center. A shooter would compliment the Jazz's offense pretty well, if he gets a chance to play with Sloan being the coach.
I'm praying for him to drop to 25 and continue the recent successes of rookies for the Jazz.

Re: Draft talk?
How about trading AK47 for a decent draft pick, and getting Al Thornton with it? Letting the other pick be a hard-nosed sharpshooter?
Deron
???
Thornton
Boozer
Okur

Williams is "much better"??? Williams didn't even play last season. And Dudley's out of shape? You're the one that suggested Stucky, who's nothing more than another 6-5 wing player. Take whoever you want. No one was answering your questions so I was throwing stuff out.

Re: Draft talk?
We should be shopping AK. No question. Even when he pulls his head out of his ***, he's still not a good fit for this team. The proposed Boston trade of Theo + D. West/Green + the 5 pick for the 25 and AK I think would be a brilliant deal for us.
But at 25 I like three guys: Sean Williams, Morris Almond, and Marco Belinelli. At 55 whatever of thsoe positions (C, SG) we don't address in round 1.

Re: Draft talk?
assumin williams is still around at 25 it would dumb to pick dudley considering hest not as good. the jazz also dont need him...hes 6-7 SF he wont be playin over millsap. they need an athletic defensive center and thats what sean williams is, hes the best shot blocker they can get. i watch a lot of college basketball (more than the NBA) and dudley does not impress me. ive seen sean williams play and hes gonna make a lot of teams regret passin on him i feel. yes he has question marks but hes a lottery type talent and if i were KOC id gamble on him.
i like the trade w/boston for #5 and ratliff however....i would wonder who to pick though. corey brewer i think is overhyped, joakim noah i cant stand and he'll be a bum in the NBA, horford i like but utah already has boozer, yi jianlian no thanks, green and wright dont fit. i would probably rather stay put and draft morris almond at 25. the one player id trade up for is nick young but hes still not the pure shooter almond is and this team needs outside shootin.
as much as people want AK47 traded the weakside defense is going to suffer if hes gone and the jazz cant get someone in the draft or FA who can defend. AK is not the biggest problem on the jazz.....starting derek fisher at SG is. id love the deal w/boston but i dont think ainge is going to do that. the only player id really wanna trade AK for is gerald wallace but thats out of the question as he costs too much.
i wonder if thaddeus young could possibly slip to 25. doubt it but most of the mocks have him going in the 18-20 range. again hes a SF but i really feel like this guy is going to be a star. if the jazz could somehow trade up a few picks to get him (dump giricek, collins, #25) it would be a steal. hes going to have a better career than brandan wright IMO....and im a tarheel fan.
a guy i forgot to mention late in the draft is herbert hill from providence, i like his game.
