Moving along
2007-10-19
In our second game of the regular season I had played a solid game scoring 9 points, dishing out 7 assist and had 6 steals in a great win. I'm playing a lot of minutes and I'm getting comfortable with the new game and my teammates. I really feel we will be a good team as the season moves along. People have always wanted me to shoot the ball a lot and play more selfish. That's not my game, I feel if my teammates are into the game and everyone is happy and doing their job to the best of their ability my job becomes so much easier. I love getting assist, playing team ball, and winning. I've always been a true point guard and a guy that knows how to win basketball games, so thats my job is to make sure everyone holds themselves accountable while on and off the court.

I can't lie the one thing I really not getting use to over here is not seeing my family. I really miss my mom, my boys, my friends. It's sometimes lonely, but I'm truely blessed because thats when my mind just thinks positive thoughts and allows me to continue to smile and feel like I'm just the blessed guy walking the earth. I also thank my family and those who send me positive words and show me so much love. People don't realize how far that goes and how saying the smallest thing can make someone smile and make someones day.

The hardest things to deal with while over here, are the language barrier, getting my hair braided and my facial hair lined up. No one really speaks english, so trying to communicate with people is so tough and sometimes I'm not able to do a lot of things. I need our team manager to translate everything for me and I really thank him because without him I really don't know what I would do. I have learned a lot of words and I'm trying to learn a lot more. I have to talk really slow and change my whole vocabulary when talking to those who know a little english.

As far as getting my hair done, I have found someone, but I still don't have a car to drive and get it done. The first time getting my hair done out here was the most pain I have experienced in a while. The lady washes my hair, then just dries it without combing it out or nothing. Then while doing my hair she just combs it out dry and my hair is so nappy and dry (no oil or grease). I'm so happy I found someone even though its so expensive, but I told my family I can't cut my hair. My hair is me and thats my trademark. I grew my hair out because I wanted to change the stereotype about braids, black kids with braids are thugs, gang bangers, not educated etc. I told my mom I will make braids look good and carry myself in a positive way to show thats not true at all. I love my hair and my mom wanted to get dreadlocks, I mean she ask me all the time because she loves her hair in that style. I just don't feel like that style fits me well so now I'm faced with having old, smelly braids. But if thats what I have to do I will because I'm not cutting it off. Then, I have no one to line or cut my facial hair so now I look much older and I feel I'm not looking like myself. Its all part of the grind and experience so I'm not tripping about it.

Other than that I'm just humbled and after 8 times overseas I can just tell my family and friends back home appreciate everything you have over in the states. I'm going to continue to grind and work hard to get better. In life you have to make the best of what you have and what God has given you. Life could be a lot worse and things aren't as bad as they seem at times. I came over here with an humble attitude and that has allowed me to deal with the situation very well.

I have a game tomorrow and I'm getting prepared as I speak. I always drink pretty of fluids, watch some film or movie to keep my mind off the game, and stay off my feet. I'm focused, I'm prepared, I'm determined to continue to work hard, win games and have a great career that I can look back on and smile. Thanks for the support and love from my fans I love yall. To my family I miss yall so much and love yall with all my heart. I'm working for you MOM, much love and respect

PS I know one day I will die, eveyone time is coming thats just how life works. You never know when your time is coming so live life to the fullest. Rest in Peace Marlon Forrest, you was my dude, a guy that made me laugh, made me work, made me happy to come to school everyday much love and to his family he was a great person. To all those who lost love ones God bless and I pray for everyone every night and morning

No, he was a 2nd round pick, and I think he was on a one year deal.

Re: Dee Brown goes to Turkey

He was really not ready for the NBA. He had speed and really that was about it. He wasn't shooting well, wasn't running the offense well - he was an energy player and that's about it.

^ All true, though I'm still a bit surprised that it wasn't enough to merit a spot on some team's bench. I want to see some film of him in Europe to see how he's progressed as a PG in particular.
