Carl English. The 6-6 SG from Hawaii via Newfoundland, Canada is every bit as good as a Reece Gaines. Yep, you read that right.
English not drafted, hopes for tryout.

I would do this if I was Chicago, but where does the back up point guard come into play. Do Chicago sign Travis Best???

Thanks for the responses.

The Jazz are about to lose their 1 & 4. The trade gives them a young cheap good 1 & 4(Fizer is expected to be 100% by the start of the season.).

The draft brought the Jazz a 6'7" 2/3, so if 6'7" 2/3 Harpring left, the Jazz would have a player to fill the void.

I'll add Trenton Hassell, a defensive 2.

Fizer, Hassell, unsigned Hinrich

for

Harpring, unrestricted 2004 pick

Why is that bad for the Jazz?

Smile

The only reason I wouldnt do the trade is Fizer is comming off a torn acl. The Jazz already have two players that havent even played a minute in the NBA that are comming off major injuries. .

Raul Lopez Torn acl (twice)

Curtis Borchard Broken foot (Twice)

Not to mention Collins who blew his acl last year.
Its tough coming back from a major injuy like any of those mentioned. Those players are going to have to be slowley brought back. Its going to be tough just to put a healthy team on the court as it is.

I do like the Harpring for Hinrich and we would just throw in John Amechi

If you're curious, here's info on Fizer's progress. He seems to be coming along pretty good on the ACL.

Doing a deal might make more sense once we know what each team is getting via free-agency. Is Utah getting Miller, Brand, Maggette, Arenas, Malone or anyone else? Is Chicago getting any of Pippen, Newble, Lenard or anyone else? Also, Fizer's health might be more certain once the season gets closer. Depending on how things play out, a deal might become more attractive.

Finally, I'd like to propose an alternative deal to the one Sicky mentioned:

Fizer + Bulls 2004 1st Rounder (conditional on it falling being between picks 4 & 20, otherwise a future Bulls 1st rounder)

for

Kirilenko and Amaechi

Why would the Bulls do that. Jazz might sign Brand and that would fix all of there problems giving us a ok SF and a crappy pick.

Jazz

PG-Kirk
SG-MLE
SF-Andrei Kirilenko
PF-Marcus Fizer
C- Elton Brand

Here's Part II:
http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/fizer_030708.html

It's hard to make salaries match without Fizer. If Hinrich is signed he can't be traded until 15 December.

OK I'll try to accomodate the removal of Amaechi.

Fizer, Hassell, Bagaric(he's just as bad as Amaechi but has 1 year less on his contract and has no attitude problem), Baxter(3rd string 4 with 1 year left, possibly non-guaranteed, needed to make salaries match), UNsigned Hinrich

for

Harpring, Amaechi, UNrestricted 2004 pick
=================================
The Jazz could use their FA $ on Brad Miller.

Miller, Fizer, Kirilenko, Pavlovic, Hinrich

No.

First of all, I think Hinrich will suck in the pros. I think you guys wasted number 7 on him. No offense.

Second, it's very likely that our PG of the future will be either Andre Miller or Gilbert Arenas.

It's likely that Pavlovic will not be ready to contribute right away next season, so the loss of a wing player like Harpring would leave them with just one legit starting wing player in Kirilenko.

Finally, I don't see us giving up our 2004 pick. Unless we can land one of out top PGs AND another stud Clipper FA (Maggette or Brand) that 2004 pick will likely be somewhere in the lottery,

No way the Jazz do that deal. The Jazz need Harpring now, he's going to have to be the big scorer most nights. Kirelenko is also off limits. They also will not be giving up their 1st rounder next year because they are rebuilding and need good young players. Fizer was injured and is not that great. Hinrich is totally unproven. NO WAY!

I've sweetened the offer:

Fizer, Bagaric, Hassell/Mason, Baxter, Hinrich(can't be traded until 15 December)

for

Harpring, Amaechi

& a switch of 1st round picks the next time the Jazz pick is better.
