Who will the Jazz sign?!

Originally rumours were they were pursuing Andre Miller and Elton Brand. Miller has now reportedly agreed to go with the Nuggets, and IMO, Brand will opt to finish one year with the Clippers and go unrestricted next season. All the top FAs seem to have already been locked, so who will the Jazz sign?

The logical thing for the jazz to do right now would be to TANK the season, and get a decent draft pick. But this is the Jazz we're talking about, and this is Jerry Sloan. They are winners, they know how to win.

I believe that A.K will spend alot of time at the PF spot, with harpring at the SF spot. These guys will continue to develop especially AK and they will be the bread and butter of the Jazz. Collins i think will be a failed experiment at the C position and Bouchart will man the reserve PF as he is healthy.

Their point position is a bit hazy right now, the Jazz will probably seek to sign Travis best to some sort of deal, which wont last too long. They will also give Deshawen stevenson some playing time at SG and hopefully they can bring him along at a fast past. If not look for the jazz to sign a swing man who will want to prove his worth in the league. Enter Cory Maggette.

With sorces saying that many teams are offering Maggette millions, the jazz may have to make a trade. One gamble the Jazz should make is to try and get their hands on Keyon Dooling. This guy is just rotting away in LA and who knows he may be the Jazz's PG woes answer. Hes not a typical PG that Sloan would want but i dont see anyone complaining about Baron Davis now do i. Dooling has a chance to become very good.

If the Jazz get desperate, for a SG theres always Ron mercer from indiana, hear the pacers are accepting bids higher than two bags of dorrito's pizza flavored chips. Theres also lucious harris up for grabs, he might get an ego because he scored in double figure averages for the season in the first time of his career and bolt elsewhere for a larger contract. But i dont think so, he knows his ability, or lack of it.

Theres also a temporary soloution. To sign Walter Mcartney, to a 1 year deal promising him more after expiration. IF he plays well sign him to a reasonable backup's contract. If not get ur high pick and show him the door. Kevin Willis will probably play till he is 50 and deservingly so, the guy still has alot of game left in him.

Elden Cambell is also on the block. There are alot of short term solutions the Jazz have in mind, untill the arrival of Kosta Perovic, (the guy i think they will pick). If they get a high pick. But i dont think they will be that bad after all.

They could also lure brad miller away with dollars, as everyone is saying that Brad didnt earn the all star spot or he rode the back of o'neil. He may have something to prove to showcase his skills.

I see the Jazz signing, some scubs, Travis best, Maybe a SG and letting their youngsters develop.

Great post Shazha!

The Jazz have got to do something soon! The big ones are getting away, and I've hardly heard a single rumour about the Jazz going after someone.

We are going to be a laughing stock next year unless we get another solid performer on board soon. AK and Harpring are great players but they are not enough to lead the Jazz. Lopez and Borchardt are unknown quantities. The rest of the roster is average at best.

We should going after Arenas, Howard, Brand, O'Neal, Maggette, Piatkowski - somebody!

Who do you think we should target now?

Yes magette signed an offer sheet with the jazz for 45 million, so the clippers have 15 days to match it as he is a restricted free agent.

link

I was also thinking now that magette is here. Why not make a deal. Houston want to get rid of mobley's (he doesnt fit in ball hog) and mo taylors huuge contract. They need a player that is a decent role player who doesnt force the issue and compliments yao. Enter harpring.

Harpring and ostertag 4 mobley or posey and taylor.

Houston also want to make room for allan houston from new york. Van gundy has been trying to aquire al, in a trade recently.
Ostertag had a solid playoff run, and his contract expires before taylors one. They would move griffin to PF and play harp at SF/SG

The jazz get a guy who can start up front in taylor, and get a decent swing man in mobely or posey.

i would also try deal for wilcox/ely and dooling. Its a gutsy move and i dunno if La would do it because they might lose miller.

12 months ago that statement would have scared the life out of me - Harpring 1st option??? But now it's not so hard to believe. hopefully he and Maggette can both average around 17-18PPG with AK around 15.

We still need some other scorers though.
