The rumor is that Maggette and Brand are good friends and that it might help on getting Brand as a unrestricted free agent next year.

There is also rumor of a trade and sign option where the Clippers realize that Brand wants out enough to play one more year and then leave without the Clippers getting anything. It might be to there advantage to trade Brand and get another player in return. Harpring's name has been mentioned. I love Harpring. I also think we need a PF. It may be that the Jazz know that with three players filling the SF/SG position that one would be used as bait in a trade and sign option for Brand. Maggette is additional bait for Brand as they are good friends.
I saw on one post that the Jazz have three first round draft picks for next year. Does anyone know if this is right. It would be a great future to see us punt this year to get three top picks for next year. Hard to believe. I do think with a base of Kirilenko, Harpring, and Maggette we have a good future with the amount of money the Jazz will have after Malone, Stockton, and Ostertag are out. I am excited about the future. Go YOUNG>>>>>>>>>>>

Maggette will help lure Brand next year. Besides, if we land Arenas, Utah would have the most eletric backcourt in the NBA. Utah could be run-and-gun team like Sacramento or Golden State. This team could be fun to watch.

First of all, Maggette is a good, young, athletic scorer with a boatload of potential. That's always good, no matter what.
Kirilenko and Harpring can't really be considered SGs....their true position is SF. Harpring isn't athletic enough to guard the 2, and Kirilenko doesn't have the perimeter skills to play the 2 on offense.
Plus, there has been rumor of trading Harp or Kirilenko...
Maggette gives us a true SG who can contribute at both ends.

Maggette is gonna play 2.
Harpring is gonna play 3.
Kirilenko is gonna play 4. (Until Utah sign a true PF)

I agree if Maggette comes on board look for all 3 to play, you can't have one of your top 3 players sitting on the bench

Harpring is a steal at 4.5 per year and we should be able to get something in return for him a decent PF.
Kiralinko wont play the 4 he weighs about 68lbs and Sloan loves to match him up against the teams best wing scorer.
Magette is a 2 in the NBA and thats what he will play in Utah and Deshawn Stevenson will be gone after the year.
Utah should package Deshawn and Harpring and get a good young PF or PG in the deal and that would make a great nucleus.
Maggette
Kiralinko and if Borchardt and Lopez and the Russian they just drafter can pan out thats a really good young Nucleus.

Hooray - someone who sees sense! AK is not a 2! He's 6'9 and blocks shots. I know he plays ont he perimeter a lot but he can play the 4 well enough to get the job in Utah.
Stick in Brad Miller and the starting 5 at least is not too bad.

Kirilenko will NEVER be able to play the four. He'd get absolutely destroyed inside.
