I love Fizer. He was a great powerful aggressive forward.
The only challenge is his injury situation. Utah already looks like a hospital ward with Lopez and Bourchardt injuries. If Fizer was set I think he could be a good addition for Utah. I loved Marshall when he was in Utah. He won't come back.
I do think the solution for Utah is not that far off. Utah fans have been spoiled with such a long winning streak. It is past. I think there are some very promising young players on the Jazz, Kirilenko, Harpring, Lopez, .... I doubt Maggette will be in Utah.
If the Jazz get a chance to play there youth it will no doubt end up with a losing year in the standings. However, there would be two positives.
1. It would clarify the situation with the younger players. Stevenson should be able to put up or shut up. Lopez knee should be more clear as well as Bourchardt's foot. It would give Pavlic a chance to play.
2. I do not recall a time when the Jazz have had a top ten pick in the last twenty years. It might be nice to be in a position to pick up a future star from the top of the draft. It would be for a reasonable price and hopefully a building block. Next years draft is not as strong as this one but there are generally top prospects at the top each year. It looks like we will not be high in the standings this year. I could sacrifice one year with the hope that we would find a long term diamond in the draft.
I could see a 3 year rebuilding period before the Jazz get back to being competitive. But it should be interesting. I am impressed that the Jazz seemed to get out their wallets to try and get FA in the Jazz. I do not think Brad Miller was worth 10 million a year. It might turn out to be a good thing we did not get Miller. It will get better.
