How do you feel about the job Tyrone Corbin has done so far?

Corbin did well, that team really didn't have much business being a playoff team this year, but with no draft pick there was no reason to tank, and I feel they overachieved a bit. His job should be safe.

Who would you consider the Jazz core players at this time?

The bigs and Hayward. Everyone else is filler.

Would you consider sacrificing the great financial position you are in by moving your expiring contracts for longterm deals this offseason?

Only if it makes the team significantly better. If you can get yourself actual starters at point guard and small forward then the team should make a big leap next year. What makes building a trade really easy is that Jefferson and Milsap both play at a high level, so it isn't like you're dealing with dead-weight expirings, both those guys could be the third or fourth guy on a title team.

Do you think Enes Kanter/Derrick Favors can be a viable starting frontcourt on a contender?

Favors can be an athletic shot blocker/defender on a good squad, although he needs to improve his offensive game, obviously. It's way too early to tell with Kanter. He underwhelmed last season, but he didn't play at Kentucky and had no summer league/training camp to figure things out, so next year will be telling with him.

Where do you stand on Gordon Hayward as a starting wing player in this league? Alec Burks?

Hayward played well last year. He can shoot, has good length, and plays a little defense. He shouldn't be your best wing player, but he can definitely be a starter. Burks didn't show a ton last year, but he's only twenty and, again, last year was a tough one to be a rookie. There's a chance he could wind up solid, but I wouldn't go forward planning on him being a starter.

Well, he overachieved in year one, so he should be safe. I don't watch enough of the Jazz to know how good of an in game coach he is, but I see no reason to fire him after they made the playoffs.

I'm not really that familiar with their financial situation. They need a point guard and another wing in the worst way though.

They could be. I like to think that Favors will develop into a really good big. He certainly has the potential to be a game changer on the defensive side of the ball. Kanter I don't know a whole lot about, like Bogg said, next year should be telling for him.

Where do you stand on Gordon Hayward as a starting wing player in this league? Alec Burks?

Gordon can be a fine starter in this league but he shouldn't be your best wing player. He can definitely start on a contender though, he's a solid kid. Burks did nothing to make me notice him. From the very limited time that I did see him I concluded that he could be a rotation shooter off the bench. Not starter material though.

How would you approach free agency?

They desperately need a point guard and a wing. LOL Deron Williams would probably be well served to come back to Utah but we all know that's an impossibility. Maybe try and make a pitch for Nash? I doubt it happens though. They're probably going to be stuck in a purgatory until the bigs develop or they bottom out. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I did not quite understand that move from the Jazz perspective. Where do they go from here? How does Marvin do them any good?

First off, I don't like the move, but the thinking is that since they just got Mo Williams for nothing Harris is expendable(and he was terrible until the end of the season last year). They had a massive hole at small forward last year and were able to spin a guy they didn't need into a reclamation project at the three. If Williams benefits from the change in scenery and starts giving you 12-14 points and 5ish rebounds a night it's actually a win for the Jazz, but there's a chance that he's just dead weight.

They had a huge need for a small forward, and if Marvin can just give them some consistent outside shooting I think the trade will turn out ok for them.

Favors can't play the 3. He's a defensive 4 and that's it. Millsap can moonlight there for stretches, but he isn't a three either.

With Mo Williams and Hayward as the other two in the backcourt he doesn't even need to be that good of a shooter, they just need general competence at the position. If Williams can finish a little around the basket, hit an open shot or two, grab a rebound every now and again, and not get destroyed on defense, that's all Utah needs.

Let's take a look back in on the 12-man roster as it developed through the offseason.

They have added a little floor spacing around their post players by upgrading their shooting prowess on the perimeter, but I still don't think it's a lock that this team will repeat as a playoff team this season. Phoenix, Minnesota, and Golden State will all be trying to pry the 8th seed from their clutches.
