He has done nothing since then to make people think he should have been drafted higher. IMO, he will be something like what Yinka Dare is like in his prime.

Here's a challenge for you: Name one 2nd-round-player IN THE LAST DECADE who has become as good a player as Elton Brand. It is ridiculous the hype people get during and right after the draft.
Well he was almost unstoppable this summer at the World championship for players under 19.
SEOK aka Gianfranco Bina who writes for this site and saw the games said that "he is totally illegal for that level" meaning that he was too good for the other teams to stop him.

It's really not right to try and judge a player you have not seen and that goes to Rodneythefool too.

Videos of sofokilis are relatively easy to get, are you sure none of these guys has seen him?

Thanks for the rep knicksbiggestfan, but I actually haven't ever seen Sofoklis play. Y'all are missing the point though, which is that AS A WHOLE second-rounders are terrible. Sure, every once in awhile a Nick Van Exel, a Gilbert Arenas, or a Manu Ginobili comes along, but they are far far FAR less common than people like Rod Grizzard who got a fair amount of hype last year when he was drafted but probably will never play a game in the NBA. Yinka Dare - caliber players are the rule, and I will feel free to assume second rounders are crap until I see them play well against NBA competition, not children. The odds are on my side here.

ArtestFan has a point - and on top of that second round big men who develop are even more rare. Sofoklis is a relative enigma, but with his size I believe if he gets the right coaching there's no reason he couldn't be at least a serviceable backup.. you can't teach size, after all..

That may have been true in the past but you have to understand that the draft is changing. The draft used to consist of all american born college kids. Now you have them still but you have tons and tons of international players and early entry high school kids etc....in other words, the drafts are much deeper now than in the past because the pool of potential players is so much deeper. The people who would have gone in the 2nd round 10 years ago don't get drafted now. And many of the people who go in the 2nd round now, would once have been solid first round picks. Look at how far players like Carlos Boozer can slip right into the 2nd round and people like JR Bremer who didn't even get drafted yet made the All Rookie 2nd Team.
As far as a second rounder as quality as Elton Brand. I'll up that, how about a guy who never even got drafted who's as good ---- Ben Wallace.
I'll name 10 players that were drafted in the 2nd round this year that I will say right now on the record will become very good NBA players
