Jazz: The New Era Begins

http://www2.sltrib.com/jazz/main/index.asp

Quote:
Considering that John Stockton and Karl Malone were teammates, and the franchise's foundation, longer than any pair in sports history, moving on might be a task bigger than basketball.
Carlos Arroyo realizes that. But basketball is his only tool. "Of course we're going to hear about [Stockton]. We're going to hear about them a lot," said Arroyo, who becomes just the sixth Opening Night point guard in Utah's 25-year history. "I understand I'm in a position that's going to be tough to fill. My challenge is to put that aside and just help the team, every day."
Following a legend can be a thankless, and anonymous, task. Even Jerry Sloan, one of two Bulls to have his number retired, doesn't remember who took his starting spot in Chicago the year after he retired. (No offense, Wilbur Holland.) So the Jazz coach has been preparing his team for the inevitable, and inevitably unflattering, comparisons.
Quote:
Replacing the other legend presents a tougher choice for Sloan, or at least a greater range of options. The coach insisted Tuesday that he still had not decided who will break Malone's streak of 17 straight Opening Night starts at power forward. If he wants quickness, he could choose Kirilenko. If he wants size, Jarron Collins is the likeliest candidate, since Keon Clark's ankle is still sore.

So there you have it Jazz fans. Out with the old, in with the new. It sure is going to be different.

25 wins would be a great season, imo.. because we just don't have the talent. I'm expecting 22 or so.

If we go small, (ie starting Kirilenko and benching osterfag) I think we'll have a solid year, 28 or so wins.

If not it could be a loooooong season.

i think the jazz are in a bad situation and should gear up for a bad season..has a few talented players, but them talented players should either be elsewhere or bench players, for the most part..however,one thing that can be good for the players themselves,is its anyones game really, there isn't any set in stone dominant force player,so anybody can take the shield as the shining knight...
