Curtis Borchardt breaks left wrist in loss to Kings
Quote:
The Jazz lost for the fourth time in six games. They also lost center Curtis Borchardt, who broke his left wrist when he fell hard to the floor over Jackson on a drive to the basket in the second quarter.
Borchardt missed all of last season with a broken foot, and five games this season with a broken finger.

This guy is made of Jello I swear. He is one of the most injury prone big men I have ever seen. It's like Mark Eaton all over again.

I might have been mad a while ago, but now I'm not surprised.. it's going to be this way forever for Borch. He hasn't been playing fantastic anyways, so I guess it's ok. Handlogten will do until KC comes back. Collins is terrible, but Big Ben isn't anything special either.. hurry back, Keon.

Borchardt hit with injury again
Quote:
With tears filling his eyes, hard-luck Curtis Borchardt met the news media in the Jazz locker room Friday night and described how he broke his right wrist during Sacramento's 100-93 win at the Delta Center.
It was the third major injury of his two-year NBA career. He will be sidelined six weeks.
Hence, the emotion.
With five minutes left in the first half, Borchardt went to the basket, collided with Sacramento's Gerald Wallace and crashed to the floor. On a bang-bang play, he was called for an offensive foul.
Not that he noticed.
"I just drove to the basket and a guy kind of undercut me," Borchardt said. "I guess the guy took a charge. I don't know what they called, actually. But I got parallel to the ground and broke my fall with my hand."
Borchardt jumped to his feet, but quickly walked to the bench and into the locker room.
"I knew something was wrong right away," he said.
Asked if he could describe the frustration of being injured again, Borchardt said, "I just have to keep working hard and keep myself in shape and be ready to come back as soon as possible. . . . That's all I can do."

Surgery hampers Borchardt
Quote:
Borchardt's broken right wrist, suffered Friday against Sacramento, included a 4-millimeter separation along the joint -- meaning he will need surgery. Sometime this week, a surgeon at the University of Utah Medical Center will insert a plate along the radius bone to close the fracture and hold it in place.
The break "was too big to let it heal on its own," said Jazz trainer Gary Briggs. "It it doesn't heal smoothly, it can hinder your wrist movement. . . . It can block the range of motion. The plate is to make sure it heals exactly right."
The surgery will add two to three weeks to Borchardt's recovery, meaning "we're looking at eight to nine weeks now," Briggs said.
The plan was to put Borchardt in a cast for a month, then switch to a splint to allow him to begin rehabilitation. It will be February at least before the cast can come off.
