Mehmet Okur......

Should Utah go after him in this offseason? With Detroit looking the resign Rasheed, he will probably be available. I think his offensive capabilities would work great in Utah, but his D is a little weak.

He would be another John Ameachi- Ive watched him, he isnt very fast, he shots to many jumppers, and just isnt that good. plus he wants a fatass contract.

Okur's actually pretty skilled....

Amaechi was god-awful....

I'd be quite pleased to get him, but I wno't be jumping up and down with excitement.

Would probably rather get Stro.

Why not get both? Okur's outside game would be a perfect compliment to Stro, who plays mostly inside even though he has a decent mid-range game.

Okur isn't perfect, but he would bring a lot of offense to us, something we need desperately. I'd love to sign him.

THANK YOU! Someone who agrees with me. In less than a year, Mehmet Okur will be seen as one of the most overpaid players in the NBA.

In addition to the weaknesses you mentioned, I would add that he is a terrible defender, has bad hands, doesn't hustle, and can't handle the ball very well. His only skills are that he's a good three-point shooter and a decent rebounder. Those aren't the skills I want from my big man.

The Jazz should forget about Okur and Stromile Swift, and try to steal Etan Thomas away from the Wizards. He is the kind of scrappy hard-nosed player that Jerry Sloan will love.

They should also try to get Kenyon Martin from the Nets, who have payroll problems and won't want to give Martin a max deal. Martin is another hard-nosed player who plays great defense.

Stay away from overrated guys like Okur and Swift who don't defend or hustle.

You could be right, ArtestFan. I think Etan THomas is underrated, but I hadn't thought of him as good enough to be the main PF on the Jazz. But he did as much as Stro did this season, so why not?

Okur has dipped a little in my opinion. Sheed landing in Detroit will hurt Okur's chances of getting a big contract.

I'm not sure KMart is realistic for the Jazz though, but there;s no harm in trying.

Okur is only in his 2nd NBA season right now and b4 Rasheed went to the Pistons he was playing a large role on that winning team. The Pistons emptied their roster to have a chance at resigning him, he DOES NOT SUCK. His defense needs a little work that is true, but Sloan of all people could help him with that. Okur would be a great guy for the Jazz and if the Pistons want Sheed back they may very well lose Okur, why not to the Jazz. He's a guy who might actually WANT to come to Utah. The comparison to Ameachi is ridiculous, Ameachi shouldn't even be in the league!
Kenyon Martin would not come to UTAH, that's very unrealistic.

Even if Slokur is a liability on defense, we're one of the better defensive teams and one of the worst offensive teams, so considering his ability to score, and considering he'd only be taking minutes away from Jarron Collins, who doesn't play real good defense anyways, I think the benefits outweight the detractors.
