For those who have played Dark Souls - any tips on the combat gameplay? This isn't your typical hack and slash, i've been reading up on it but the control scheme is a little confusing on the fly.

I'm playing on PS3.

Is it L2 to parry, then immediate R1 to riposte?

Will probably be contributing to this thread a bit more going forward, my girlfriend got me GameFly for my birthday. First game I had sent out was Far Cry 3, it's been very enjoyable so far. A game I'm glad I didn't pay $60 for, but still an enjoyable game. Probably only a quarter of the way through the game right now, and it's definitely gotten better the further into it you get. Partly because the storyline deepens, partly because you level up and get cool skills, and partly because the controls get more natural.

Far Cry 3 was good. Enjoyed it.

Story made me feel depressed though.

It's a little twisted for sure, I don't think I'm far enough in on it to make a definitive statement about it yet. Guess that means I should start playing it now.

Think I finished it within a few weeks. I really enjoyed doing all the radio towers and enemy camps, to the point I powered through those before doing much mission work. As well as hunting for skins to upgrade. Its surprising because that's all stolen straight from the AC series and I picked up Assassins Creed III and haven't really been in to it at all.

I did about 8-10 missions straight and have since slowed down on them (at like 12 now) because of doing all the towers and camps. The camps can get a little intense if you don't approach them right.

Good to know about AC3, that was probably the next game on my list after I finished this one. Might pass it up now, I always really enjoy the first few hours of those and then get bored with them (even though I consider them fun games).

I'm about the same. Its fun, but doesn't really grip me at this point where I feel an urge to play. AC2 and Brotherhood are the only ones I finished. Revelations I got into a bit and then quit, and we'll see what happens with AC3.

I think I'm getting 2k13 here in the next week (late X-Mas gift), which probably will prohibit me from playing anything as intense as Far Cry 3 or AC3 in terms of storyline games. Next game off of Game Fly will probably be Black Ops 2 since that has good plug and play ability.
