Apple Has Lost Its Way
Today is the one-year anniversary of Steve Jobs' death.
So when I went to Apple to check out the latest delay on the delivery of the iPhone 5, what do I get? I get a two-minute video on "Remembering Steve" that I cannot opt out of. Apparently, Apple feels that I "need" to remember Steve before I can find out how long before I can buy the latest reincarnation of the iPhone. I have seen the latest iPhone in the Apple Store close to where I live and I am not impressed. Unfortunately, I need to purchase one for application development and testing, so I am made to wait. Before I can develop applications and test on it. Because Apple couldn't judge their demand market, and got caught with their pants down in delivery to their customer base. For a company with the largest cap in U.S. stock today, they are beginning to act like they really don't care about their end-user, the customer. I had to recently bring in my 27-inch Mac for repair, the hard drive had completely failed. Apparently, they recalled these machines some time ago, and even though they had my e-mail address, they failed to notify me. When I asked the Apple technician why they failed to notice me, he just stared at me as though I was speaking Swahili. Now, perhaps I am spoiled but I expect more from Apple...probably because they have been so professional in the past. Bottom line, they have a long, long, long way to go to match my disappointment in Microsoft, but I hope that they feel that they cannot continue to take their loyal customer base for granted. This iPhone 5 "wait" is an absolute joke and they should have prepared for much more demand.

Re: Apple Has Lost Its Way
I just upgraded to the iphone 5. I too didn't see a huge improvement, but considering it only costs $200 with a 2 year contract and I can get that much for my iphone 4 on ebay it seems almost like an investment.

Re: Apple Has Lost Its Way
My iBook g3s motherboard crashed twice in the 3 years I owned it. My iMacs hard drive bit the dust in 4 and a half years. I bought a Mac mini about a year ago.
I've been a Mac user since 94. Apple would have to really screw up for me to leave them. I have a blackberry and a hop laptop both assigned to me for work and I hate them. I hate them so much I pay to have an iPhone and Mac mini.

Re: Apple Has Lost Its Way
I honestly don't see the appeal of the iphone 5. The 4s at least had Siri, which is an significant upgrade over the 4. The difference between the 5 and the 4s is basically a slightly bigger screen. The "ideal" screen size according to Jobs is 3.5. If Apple is going to abandon that concept then I don't see why they didn't at least make the 5 4.3 or even 4.7 so that it's comparable to its cheaper android counterparts. The whole thing just feels weak especially when the "larger screen" is your main selling point.
The new ports that force you to pay $30 extra for an adapter so that your old gadgets don't become garbage is bs as well. |

Re: Apple Has Lost Its Way
The shortages for iPhone 5 have nothing to with them misjudging demand. The world can't physically build the things fast enough. They are already manufacturing at an extremly fast rate.
I love Apple. The only Apple product I own is a 6 year old iPod, but they've made me a very handsome amount of money the past two years. |

I think the bigger screen is badly needed since my employer took my ipad back. I can't stand to use the kindle app anymore and navigating this site (amongst other) is a pain. Plus I ditched my garmin and use the phone as a GPS, frequently since I just moved to a new town two months ago.

Re: Apple Has Lost Its Way
No one told me. The left half of my screen is darker than the right.
The 27 inch is plagued with factory malfunctions if you look it up online. A nice way to waste $3000+.
