So my last phone (droid x2) got stolen over the weekend and I'm looking to buy a new phone. I have Verizon as a carrier so I can use anything with a clean esn that is compatible. I don't feel like to commiting to any contracts as I prefer the month to month option. As such I'm not eligible for any of the free or cheap phone deals.

Generally, I buy my phones on Ebay. Call me cheap or whatever but I dont need the absolute newest phone just something comparable. Phones that retail for like $500 usually sell used on there in the area of $150 in the box with no wear. What I'm looking for must be:

aesthetically nice
touchscreen
4g
the usual bells and whistles

I'm looking to spend like $200 but would do up to $300.


I've been checking out the Droid Razr's, but I'm hearing mixed things.

I'd also consider an older iphone, but I hear the older phones are problematic with updates and what not.

I don't know much about htc's or samsung's. In fact I don't know a ton about phones in general. Anyone got any advice?

Why are you even thinking twice about this. Samsung Galaxy SIII is the best phone on the market by far. And Apple is "cool", but SGSIII has gained cache as the preferred phone outside of America (because it is better than the iphone 5). I also think Android is always going to beat Apple for apps and other technical stuff.

I have an SII and love it. Unless Samsung comes out with the 4, I'll upgrade to the 3 when my contract runs out.

Galaxy S2 is great. I bought it off craigslist for 200 and I've been stoked to have it.

for under 300 the Samsung S2 is the best choice imo.
