2013 Most Anticipated Video Games
It's become somewhat of a tradition for me to put up this thread every year. I think I've done this since 2010. Here's last year's edition:
http://www.basketballforum.com/video...ted-games.html Funny how 5 of the 7 games I mentioned for 2012 aren't out yet. The two that did came out to less than stellar reviews and so didn't warrant any of my cash. This year just seemed like a relatively weak year in video games overall. I did a quick run through of 2013's games and things do look more promising for next year. Here are my top 5 for 2013: 1a. The Last of Us Same position as last year. 1b. Watch Dogs I was amazed by the trailer. My sleeper for game of the year. 3. Grand Theft Auto V Same as last year. 4. Tomb Raider Same as last year. 5. Beyond: Two Souls Looks too good and intriguing not to put in my top 5. Honorable Mentions: SimCity, God of War: Ascension, Star Wars 1313, Deadpool, MLB 13: The Show

Re: 2013 Most Anticipated Video Games
According to this article, Watch Dogs is scheduled for 2013. But with video games, you never really know. Most of the games scheduled for 2012 that I was looking forward to didn't come out.

Re: 2013 Most Anticipated Video Games
I honestly don't even know.
Bioshock Infinite: PC Love the first game, hoping for it to be even 90% as good and it will probably be my favorite game of the year. Dead Space 3: PC I owned each of these on 360, quit part way through, then picked them up later on Steam sales and loved them on the PC. Probably one of the few who is really looking forward to this game. Remember Me: PS3(360?) Not even 100% sure what this game is about, but I remember seeing trailers thinking it looked very cool. Kind of cyber punkish, which I usually like. Aaaaand that's about it. I mean yea, I'll probably get GTA 5, maybe The Last of Us, but I'm getting zombied out. It looks like a weak year so far, but there should be some good announcements come E3. What I'm really looking forward to is the announcement of the new consoles. I've been hooking my PC straight to my TV and playing with a 360 controller on stuff like AC3, Borderlands, Skyrim, etc and it just looks so much better. When the next wave of consoles hits it will effect the PC games too since they're all mostly ports.

Bioshock Infinite (still bummed they didn't do a prequel to the first one. Would've LOVED to seen the rise of Andrew Ryan.)
GTA V Watch Dogs

Re: 2013 Most Anticipated Video Games
2012 was the year of the Indie, and as far as I'm concerned, 2013 will be no different.
The most interesting games of the year came form midsized studios like Firaxis (XCOM) and Telltale (Walking Dead). And if not them, then small studios like thatgamecompany (Journey) or ragtag groups/individuals who made stuff like Hotline Miami, Thirty Flights of Loving, Fez, Mark of the Ninja, Super Hexagon, Spelunky, etc. The big studios made good stuff but it was by and large disappointing (though I've heard many sing the praises of Farcry 3). Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, Watch Dogs, GTA V...they all look good, but I'm not anticipating any of them. I prefer the wait and see approach with AAA games. I'm much more excited by the smaller stuff that I've heard about (Proteus...I know it's already out, Brendon Chung's latest game Quadrilateral Cowboy) and the indie stuff that we'll learn about after it gets some post-release hype. Only big budget game I'm truly anticipating is Last Guardian, but it seems like it is perpetually being pushed back another year. Maybe my taste in games has just shifted, but I prefer these short, experimental pieces much more than I do some super polished, strong, but derivative game that feels like something I've played a dozen times over. |
