980 clarifies our FA goals...

They've just reported that our primary goal is to resign Etan. They also say that we will not bring back Chris Whitney or Mitchell Butler.

I was hoping we'd keep Butler or Whitney around as our 12th man, those guys are solid veterans and have been with the club for a long time. But neither one was going to add much this year, so I'm fine with it. Is Baxter still with us?

Arenas/Blake
Hughes/Dixon
Jamison/Hayes
Brown/Thomas/Jeffries
Haywood/Ramos

Looking at this, our roster is pretty solid. Maybe we could use another backup SG, because if Hughes goes down then our backcourt becomes pretty small. I don't trust Hayes at SG, because he can't handle the ball or make his own shot.

Should the Lakers sign Latrell Sprewell?

That info was also in the times. Baxeter was chosen by Charlotte in the expansion draft. I also am not counting on Ramos to be on the team to start the season.

We definitely have some holes to fill, and they are primarily another SG and another F/C. Dixon as the primary backup may be just too much of a gamble. We really need a vet presense like Voshon Lenard or Wes Person if we are thinking shooter, which we also need, or a defender. We need role playing guys. Lets hope we can grab a couple.

Baxter can come back, the Cats aren't going to sign him last I heard.

We really should keep Mitchel Butler as a backup 2 guard. He was solid in the minutes he got last year.

Maybe Laron Profit will make the team?

I really like the name Voshon Leonard. That guy produces everywhere he goes but for some reason he's kicked out the door.

Person is an okay option also. Its probably either or with me.

I like Sura as a low budget defensive option.

I like Butler for his defense but he doesn't shoot it well enough not to be a liability. Then again I'd be okay with him at his salary.

I hope Ramos can get over here.

I'd guarantee Ramos 300K. Why not. I think he can play call me stupid. I also think he's a headcase whose gonna be tough to work with. I have heard from my sources in the media with knowledge of the situation that has told me that Ernie is giddy about getting the kid. I hear Ramos is tough to coach he vastly improved the last 2 years because he accepted coaching finally but he's not a guy who trusts easily so he might be a problem from an atittude standpoint.

For this team, I'd really like to have Sura, he'd seem to be the ideal kind of versatile, defense 1st 3rd guard to team with Arenas and Hughes.

It's a good think we dumped Brian Cardinal too, huh? I think I'd rather have him than Dampier, whose two good years have been his two contract years. He scares the hell out of me. Cardinal on the other hand works his *** off and defends, which is something we could really use.

I'm not super impressed with Etan, but I don't see anyone obviously better out there. Perhaps Golden State, who needs big guys, would take back Etan in some kind of sign and trade, letting us field an all Golden State lineup of Dampier, Cardinal, Jamison, Hughes, and Arenas

We should sign some shooters to come off the bench. If our starting lineup is cold, we can just bring some of these guys in to put some juice in the O. Voshon Leonard would be one guy...
