Let me say I've never been happier to not hear the Wizards name in any real FA rumors. The type of money being thrown around is ridiculous, and if we offered up contracts like some of these teams are, I'd throw a fit. That's not to say I wouldn't like to see us linked to an Eric Williams or Trenton Hassell, but not at the prices guys seem to be fetching.

I'm starting to think that's the best thing we can do, though I worry about overpaying. We have to resign Kwame and Haywood next offseason, and I sure don't want to shortchange and possibly lose either of those because of Etan making a couple million more than he should be. Factor in Haywood hopefully getting better minutes this season and Ramos joining up, you've got to ask -- is Etan really worth that much more than his qualifying offer ($3 million) to us?

I have no doubt that he'll get at least one MLE level offer from some team, and at that price, I'd prefer to just let him go. It's not worth that kind of money to have a 24 MPG backup center.

I'm feeling you here also MJG. Kinda irritates me that we're not at least speculated on as going after fa's.

We need to become a destination worth considering at least even if we don't get anyone of substance.

I got a feeling though if we have a good season and make the playoffs players are gonna start looking at us.

I agree about Etan I really don't want to get in an overpay situation with him and then lose Kwame or brendan (whom I like) unlike some others .Kwame we should defintiely pay and with added minutes I think Brendan will prove to be well worth it also.

The best scenario would be for Etan to only get half of the MLE.

Forget Dampier, sign Etan

Dampier has reached his prime, he might have one more season like he did last year and thats it. Etan on the other hand is a young Ben Wallace in the making. This guy shows all the attributes of being a legitimate starter in this league. I havent looked at his rebounds and blocks per minute, but im sure his stats per minute are better then alot of other starting centers in the league. Also with all these scorers and finesse players on the wizards they need Etan in the middle for his tenacious and aggresive play. Hes still young and can still develop a mid range shot.

I say sign Etan and start him at Center, stop starting Haywood and please dont sign Dampier and let Etan go.
