Wiz need help at small forward

For the most part, the Wiz have been stagnant on offense this season. it partly has to do with Hughes, but most of the problems start with our 3 point shooting, or the lack of. Opposing teams simply do not respect the Wizards' outside game, which was a strength last season. Tonight, the Sixers were playing a 2-3 zone that the Wiz could not shoot over. This seems to be a problem that will haunt us for the rest of the season if its not tackled immediately.

The guys I would love to bring to DC are as follows:

1. Mike Miller- bad defender, but his outside shooting is deadly. Would spread the floor nicely, giving Stack more one-on-one opportunities. Wizards almost traded the #11 pick for Miller, so he was a guy they had on their map.

2. Shane Battier- very good defender, excellent shooter, not as dynamic as Miller on offense, but plays smart. He's been struggling this season, and might be had for cheap.

3. Al Harrington- Has also struggled offensively, but he the best defender out of all of these guys. With the emergence of Ron Artest, he also could be had for the right price.

4. Corey Maggette- Has been a stud this season. Fairly decent defender and shooter...also a "Jordan" kind of player. He's not going to be resigned in LA, so he would be a definite possibility.

5. James Posey- Value has increased in Denver. The Wiz made a mistake not trading the #16 pick for him.

6. Lamar Odom- COuld also be had for cheap, but is a huge risk with his injury and weed history. Is the most talented player out of all these choices, but is also the most troubled.

all are solid players but only miller provides the outside shooting that you talked about needing. the wiz already have defensive sf's in mj and russel. i'm sure there are some sharpshooters available that wouldn't break the bank.

Of those choices Miller , Posey or Odom I like. Miller would be the perfect fit too how the Wizards are built he can hit that three and slash some which would open the court , Odom is a star but the weed bothers me one more strike and he's gone for a year do you take that chance because if it worked you'd have a future allstar. Posey's like a younger slightly better ball handling Russell I'd take him though.

Heck no to Battier though he's too erratic a shooter and some nights doesn't even post stats he's been a disappointment this year,

I believe that we're going to end up with Maggette though he and MJ work out in the summer together, and MJ would like his toughness if he became more consistent he would be a star.

Hell no to Battier? The guy averaged 15 ppg last season. His playing time and shots have gone down, so naturally his numbers are going to go down. I actually think he would be the best fir out of any of the others because he plays defense and spreads the floor with his shooting, which is exactly what Collins wants from the small forward position.

If I really had a choice between all of these guys, I would take Maggette. That guy is going to blow up.

Local I think we get Magette possibly with his relationship with MJ, but Battier I just don't like, his numbers are down and he doesn't play with the same confidence he played last year with, he's not a good athlete and in that spot I'd like an explosive one or a great shooting one. Magette fits the explosive one to a tee I really like his game, he seems ready to become a star . And for me Miller has a pure stroke that we could use here.

Unless we can give up L8, I'm not interested in another SF. I'm satisfied with the combination of MJ, Russell and JJ.

I'm happy that our future at the three looks good with JJ.

I'm still not convinced JJ can be a full time small forward, especially in the type of offense we run where the sf needs to be able to spread the floor. Until JJ develops a consistent outside shot, I think it would be better to keep him in his current role; spot minutes at both small and power forward.

If we were to get another sf, we could keep him until we knew exactly what we have in JJ because it is still a mystery to everyone as to whether he can be a full time small forward.

From your list I only like Mike Miller because I agree if we need anything it is a sharpshooter.

With that said who are we giving up? It would have to be something significant.

I am content with what we have there and beleive that JJ can play full-time three in a couple of years, probably next year. He can hit the outside shot but he is just not taking it this year.

It is very difficult to find a tradable option Miller and the Wiz.
