Official Thread: Wiz vs. Rockets 11/21/2002
Now we get Yao, Stevie Franchise and the Rockets. This will be a tough game as we get another team with a fast backcourt although they are not as tough as Philly defensively.
I need to think about this one before I make a prediction.
Here are our next five:
@ Houston
@ Memphis
Indiana
@ Indiana
Philly
If we win three of the next five that would be good. I think we will.

I think that the WiZards will go to Houston and take one from stevie franchise and YAO ... I think the whole team will improve w/ the extra practice time. Hopefully, the officiating won't be as bad as the Philly game. I'm thinking the game will be 105-98 ... WiZards

After seeing Houston last night a little on ESPN's fastbreak I think we win this game. Houston doesn't have the defensive intesity to stop us and we have one on the best defenses around.
The Wiz win.

I watched them last week versus the Lakers and really wasn't that impressed Our size should be a problem for them and they have small guards so MJ and Stack should feast , Look for kwame to have a good game as well as Brendan. Only thing to worry about is their speed , we've got to get back on defense and contain Francis somewhat. Wizards win a close one.
I see us going 4-1 in the next 5.
W vs Houston
W vs Memphis
W vs Indiana= will be good win
L vs Indiana- will get whipped
W vs Philly- PAYBACK BIGTIME

Ill go with Houston on this one. Jumpshooting teams usually kill the Wizards.
Francis is going to go off on us.

I couldn't predict it any better, jazzy. It will be tough against Indy but one win/one loss sounds pretty fair to me.
and 4-1 in the next 5 sounds cool. it's about time to get a mini-streak goin'...
go wiz!!!

I see 3-2 in the next 5, with Houston and Indy beating us on their home floor. Memphis is a W, and I think we beat Indy and Philly at home.
The big differenece between this year and last is that we play MUCH better at home.

I still think we win this game but if Houston ever figures out how to use Yao effectively they will be trouble for everyone. If Yao can learn how to pass out of a double team (which will be coming) and Houston either bury an open jumper or pass it back to Yao, whew!
The thing that makes him most effective (other than his size of course) is that he has such a nice stroke which will only get better.
I'm still predicting a shaky win, only because I think we come out not rusty but well rested and fresh from the lay-off.

I am going to have to go with Houston on this one. Mobley and Francis are probably too energetic for us to handle tonight.

I totally agree with this if their guards ever learn that making Tao the first option and get the ball kicked out from him the Rockets are going to be awesome because folks this Yao kid is legit he's the real deal and will be a star in the league he has great hands , a soft touch and he's big in the hips so once he establishes position you can't move him out of the paint plus, he's smart and is a great offensive rebounder. All that being said we win this one because the Rockets guards are small and play terrible defense and they have no real pf that can go inside.

I was listening to Tony Kornheiser this morning and he was talking to Aldridge about Yao's name and whether Yao is the first or last name. Just ot clear it up Ming is his name and Yao is his family name. Hence the Yao on his jersey. Aldridge said something about the family names for Hispanics but he was off somewhat. They still have first names but occassionally they will have multiple family names, generally going by the mother's family name in the US.
