official word on Kwame via the Post

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2004Oct4.html

Any player who uses the Wizards doctors or training staff is a fool.

Kwame out until mid Novenber thats crazy.

With an injury that was supposed to have him outta the cast 2 weeks ago or so.

Man the Wizards medical people are amongst the worst in the league.

Its never the time they say a player is gonna return.

Its always a month or so later with them always.

Man this pisses me off.

Jamison just became our new starting PF. He's actually best there anyways.

Arenas
Hughes
Hayes
Jamison
Haywood

I think everyone saw this coming. When you don't hear any news about an injured player for a long time, it's usually because the injury is worse than advertised and they're hiding it from the public. The Bucks did the same thing with T.J. Ford. I'm very worried about Jermaine O'Neal's knee because I haven't heard about it for months.

This team is going to be the worst defensive team in the league until Kwame comes back.

We do indeed have the worst team doctors every season.

Last year they screwed with Arenas letting him come back hurt, putting him back on the IR, letting him come back, putting him back on the IR.

Their was the whole Stackhouse ordeal.

And now Kwame, you knew if he was getting advice from our team doctors something bad was going to happen.

I'm with you jazzy, our training staff is horrible. I obviously can't diagnose this injury myself, but from everything I read, it's ridiculous he's going to be out for a month or even two longer than we planned. Nothing I read made it seem like this was the type of injury with a wide period of recovery; I know sometimes things take more time to heal up, but an extra 5-6 weeks is just too much.

This is a pretty big blow. He'll not only miss the first several weeks, but it'll probably be mid-December before he's starting to round into form. Couple that with Blake being out the same amount of time more or less and the first month of the season is looking pretty shaky.

The thing I'm really worried about though is that the outside players will use the first month to really set our offense as a guard-oriented one, even more so than we'd normally be. Once Arenas and Hughes and Hayes and Dixon (who I assume will get some clock with Blake out) get used to shooting 80% of our shots, will they be willing to scale it back some when Kwame returns?

By moving Jamison to PF, you still maintain an inside game. Jamison will take either the most or 2nd most shots on the team, and he's going to shoot a high percentage and get alot of points in the paint. It's not a stretch to say Jamison is a better PF than Kwame at this point in their careers.

Yeah thats a helluva stretch at this point. I would say Kwame's a better pf while Jamison is a better player.

When I judge a players suitability to play a postion I take into account the ability to defend a particular postion.

Kwame's one of the best man defenders in the league, when given the ball he stared down all the really good pf's in the league from JO to Gasol to Brand.

Jamison isn't as good a rebounder either.

Jamsion is one dimensional a scorer.

He's not a low post threat more of a slasher from the wings so our low post offense like MJG says will suffer because the overall mentality of the team will be a perimeter one.

We will definitely be a fastbreaking team now with a perimeter philosphy. Early in the season this may work but once teams get settled we'll be in a world of trouble.

That's supposed to be the minimum. It's also a possibility that he won't be able to fully practice until the end of November, which would basically mean he'd be missing the first fifth of the season or so. That's a pretty big chunk.
