If Gilbert lets Wade do whatever he wants again than the Heat will win again. Gil needs to be more aggressive, and look for his shot early and often instead of waiting for the second half. And he's GOTTA play better defense. If EJ is smart he'll put Hughes on Wade, Hughes limited Wade in the 4th quarter last night.

Haywood coming back will certainly help. I think we'll play them close again, but it will be hard winning on the road.

The way I see it, we played the division favorites and a possible title contender relatively close without all three of our rotation big men and with their young stud having the best games of his career. True, Shaq didn't have an especially good game, but that's in line with his prior efforts this season so I do not take that as much of a negative for them. To get even a bit deeper, we played horrid on both ends of the court the entire first half and Eddie Jones caught absolute fire on threes at the very end of the game -- what are the odds that a guy goes 4-4 from three from an average of 27 feet out in the last three minutes of a game?

Not saying it was luck or anything that they beat us, just that it's not a win the Heat should be doing cartwheels over or that we should be beating ourselves up on. I agree with jazzy in the other thread, that if we had our frontcourt, I think we would've won. It's a whole lot easier to score all the points in the paint that they did when its Ruffin and Jamison as your last line of defense as opposed to Haywood and Kwame. Of course, this problem isn't going completely away for another couple weeks in all likelihood, so it can't be an excuse.

Why has he been so quiet the first three games? Have they all been like our game, where he did very little for the most part and just kind of caught fire in one quarter? I realize he hasn't been too needed in terms of having huge games up to this point, but stats-wise he still seems woefully low to open up the season. I too would normally expect him to bounce back after a game like the last with a big effort, but with the numbers he's putting up this year I'm wondering a bit. I'm sure they won't be that low forever, but maybe the hamstring is effecting him more than he's letting on?

As I said, the biggest difference will be if Gilbert comes out aggressive in the first half. In the second half he got to the hoop at will against Wade, he needs to be aggressive from the start.
