Blake Back as Early as Tonight?

Game time decision against Boston ...
Quote:
Each step Steve Blake is taking on his surgically repaired ankle is helping the Washington Wizards take a step closer to reaching full strength. Blake, a second-year point guard, practiced in full for the first time yesterday and could be activated in time for tonight's game against Boston at MCI Center.

"It could be a game-time decision with him being activated," Coach Eddie Jordan said. "Or we could wait until after the game. Our stance was, let's see how hard he can practice and how long he can practice hard. He went through all the practices today and he was very impressive."

At the latest, Blake is expected to return to the lineup Saturday in New Jersey. "It felt good," Blake said of his ankle. "But it's not always up to me. If it was up to me, I would've come back a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't do it. Hopefully, they'll let me come back as soon as I can."
It's always a bit of a worry when a guy returns several weeks earlier than expected that he's rushing things though, so I hope that isn't the case. Blake was one of my very favorite players for us last year, so if he's actually ready to go then it's great to see him returning to the lineup sooner rather than later. He'll likely take a couple of weeks before rounding into real game shape, but I think he'll be pretty helpful once he's going full speed again.

The article also notes that we shouldn't expect similar speedy returns for Etan or Kwame; both are still expected December returns.

Blake feels pressure that he may not get his role back because Juan has been playing well. I guess thats the one thing that I don't like about this team sometimes there's too much internal competition and not enough guys fitting a role.

I thought last season Blake and Juan played outside of their roles and were just jacking up shots. I hope now that Blake is back Juan continues his unselfish play and that Blake comes in and does the same.

I read in the Times where the article said Kwame is back to running despite still having some swelling in the foot. Glad to hear it, won't be much longer now that he's running.

Etan's prognosis isn't as positive the hurry up and wait approach seems real odd, our staff is the only one who can't find a timetable for an injured players return. Etan I got a bad feeling is gonna be the perpetually injured guy we owe 6 mil a year to.

With Blake's injury, I do not think the is putting himself into position to aggravate an injury or cause more harm. I am pretty sure it is a pain thing. He had a spur removed from his heel, which can be painful, but I am guessing they didnt have to go through the tendon or anything so hopefully he is good to go.

Think the Post said as early as next game or the game after.

Last night on NBC 4 Blake said two weeks or so.

We'll see

As much as having Steve back will help out the 2nd unit, it's the return of Kwame and Etan that would help the team the most. Brendan and Michael and now i'd have to add Jared...definately need the help. (Samaki seems like a IR list material).
