Official Thread: Wiz vs NY 12/7/2002
There will be tons of NY fans at MCI as usual.
I think the Wiz win this one. NY had a tough time last night and should expect another one.

I think the Wiz take this one vs. the Knicks ... They definitely need to come out with more energy ... They have more talent than NY ... they just need to perform ... Looking for Stack, Jordan, and Hughes to continue w/ their excellent performances ... Wiz win 89-78

I hope one of the big young guys show up tonight. I like Etan since he is less risky than Kwame. You are going to get rebounding, defense and energy from Etan all of the time.
I keep saying it but they need to throw it down to him and let him shoot a couple of those baby hooks (left and right hand) each game.

I agree with this I'd like to see him work his hook to. Kwame shot one against the Bucks and it was a good shot for him I wished he'd try it more instead of always diving in out of control. Kwame's lost right now and has no confidence. Etan should be able to give a presence down low only if they give him some time.

You can tell that his hook though is mechanical. He did it and it is the same hook shot Etan uses, but not as fluid. I am not sure where he learned it, but I am guessing he uses it at a specific spot on the floor when the defender plays him a certain way. I wouldn't mind if he developed it but it would be nice if he went up strong and scored over people instead of fading away.

This is BS. Kwame should be getting minutes. Its hard for me to accept that Haywood, Etan, L8, and Joakley are getting minutes over Kwame, who IMO is our best big man (when he plays remotely well).
I guess Collins really believes L8 and Oakley are winning games for him. It must have nothing to do with plugging Jordan in the starting lineup. Nope.

Ugly win down the stretch. At least we held on. Not having a single low post option will hurt us this year. Someone needs to step up by mid-season. I still think Etan or Kwame can do it but like Phil Chanier said tonight it is earned in practice. Both Haywood and Etan fell for the old 'lean and release' trick.

I agree Kwame should be getting minutes and as you said the improved play has more to do with MJ starting than Oak and Laet's play. Its an easy way to coach having vets who already instinctively know where to be its obvious to me that Collins doesn't have the patience to coach young players. He grows frustrated by the minute they make a mistake . Funny thing is the vets make similar mistakes sometimes but aren't as magnified in his mind. The things that Oak and Laet bring to the table aren't measured with their limitations which are shot blocking and easy baskets. Our young bigs are uniquely talented but we won't get the benefit of their skills because Collins has no faith in them.
Hughes is starting to come on he's doing a great job defensively and he's hitting the outside shot. His rebounding has been impressive also.
Lue is really struggling with his confidence shooting, seems like when one guy is going good another struggles. Hughes is playing well now then Dixon gets hurt who was playing well, maybe one day we can get everyone playing well at the same time.
Shandon Anderson was almost that random player to beat us with the big game.

last night was scary for the wiz. I thought the team would have gelled by now. I had high hopes of them making the playoffs, but I become doubtful as of late.
at least they won, but wins like this wont get you far.
