Grade the Wizards!
Larry Hughes: B-
Has been excellent on defense and on the boards, but has been up and down on offense. I'd like to see him play with more reckless abandon...he's been playing too cautiously. Overall, he has been well worth his money.
Jerry Stackhouse: A-
Except for 2 or 3 games this season, has shot fairly well. Has brought everything the Wiz expected him to bring...scoring, rebounding, toughness. Has also been passing the ball well, and has somewhat minimized his turnovers (and yes, I do think we won that trade with Detroit).
Michael Jordan: A+
Bench my %$@!
Christian Laetner: C+
Same old Laetner. Has been passing and shooting well, but he seems to have gotten slower.
Brendan Haywood: C+
He has less post moves than Tyronn Lue. Has occasionally been very good, but for the most part has been inconsistent.
Tyronne Lue: B-
Has struggled the past few games with his shot. This is because opposing defenses are respecting him.
Bryon Russell: C+
Much better off the bench than starting. His jumpshot has been eratic, but his defense has been stellar.
Kwame Brown: B-
Yup, he gets a B-. Its not his fault that he has to look over his shoulder every time he misses a shot or makes a mistake.
Collins is mishandling him bigtime.
Etan Thomas: B
Has been OK in the brief minutes he has played. He gets blocked way too much, and needs to be craftier around the basket.
Jared Jeffries: C+
Has been taken out of the rotation. Needs to develop a consistent jumpshot in order to get minutes. However, he was pretty good when he played.
Juan Dixon: A-
Maybe a little generous, but even BCH and that other guy (whats his name) has to admit he has been nothing but productive when he gets minutes. Points, rebounds, steals, assists...he can fill up a statsheet as well as anyone on the team.
Charles (J)Oakley: B
As much as I hate Joakley, he has been decent. Plays tough defense, and actually won us a game.

Larry Hughes: B I agree with Local for the most part. I give him a better grade because of his attitude and his injury earlier in the year that he played through
Jerry Stackhouse: B+ - I don't reduce his grade for his shooting slumps but for the 4 to 5 bad (lackadasical) passes he makes every game.
MJ: A He is doing everthing we expect and is driving more this year. His free throws have been below his standard.
L8: C+ Agreed , when he is playing he is giving us everything he has.
Haywood: C+ Agreed. About what I expected.
Lue: B- Agreed, he would get a B except he has struggled as of let and has not been as aggresive.
Russell: B His defense has been quite good and he has been decent in the clutch.
Kwame: C He played well the first few games but has been extremely inconsistent with his energy. He goes to sleep in defense sometimes and tries too hard on offense.
Etan: B Agreed
Jeffries: B He does not hurt the team while he has been in there. He has displayed good defensive instincts and has a nose for the ball.
Dixon: A- Agreed When he has been in there for quality minutes I have been pleasantly surprised.
Oak: B Agreed. Not trying to do too much

Hughes C+-coming on of late ,very erratic early has improved the Wizards defense at the point. Lack of pg instincts sometimes a drawback and his lack of abiliy to handle a press a little distressing. abilty to score has been a bonus.
MJ B+ is the grade hasn't been nearly as good as last year. Even though he's starting he's not been as consistent in his ability playing the sg spot. He doesn't have the quickness advantage he had being guarded by the sf's maybe why his numbers starting aren't as great, but playing well with great knowledge and all the other things he brings to the game. His anticipation and strong hands on defense still contiue to amaze. Improved team play may also be a reason why his numbers aren't as good also.
Stackhouse C+ not as impressed as I thought I'd be with his game, he struggles sometimes with figuring out how to play with Mj. His erratic shooting performances are driving me crazy, when he's good he's as good a sg as there is in the league but when he's off he doesn't go to the hole enough to still give the Wizards the scoring they need. His toughness is an upgrade on Rip but his lack of smooth play throughout a game is lacking.
Laetner C about what I expect from a vet with his experience, when he puts the effort out he is very smart knows how to get in the right spots and can really shoot the ball at times. He just neeeds to pla with effort.
Haywood C I think some of his strugles are related to his lack of playing time, but when he's played I think he's doing a solid job, is rebounding with some effectiveness and is altering alot of shots. Offense is still very raw.
Kwame c+ has shown flashes of brillance, he has had games that none of the other big guys are capable of having on both ends of the floor. Lately has faded back to playing like last year very tenative ,fumbling passes, not rebounding strongly. Needs to play with more agression and confidence seems to slump when Collins fusses at him needs to be tougher but the flashes are what I needed to see and he's shown glimpses of what he will become.
Lue D good early, terrible late has no confidence right now shooting the ball now.
Oak C about what I expected
Russell C hasn't shot well for the most part but his defense has been terrific, his savy makes up for his bad shooting . Solid.
Dixon B Thought since the preseason that he's brought the most consistent effort, before his injury he was starting to come on, shows quickness ,anticipation, scoring ability, savy, competitveness enthusiasm. Going to be a great pick for the Wiz as time goes by. Not really sure why he wasn't playing but glad he is when he comes back.
Jared Jeffries C+ has shown a nack for the offensive glass and a surprising touch from deep, knows where to be but struggles with strength against pf's must look for his shot more and regain his confidence. Like his potential.
Etan Thomas C+ can play all I can say has nice little jump hook and hits the boards relentlessly needs to finsih alittle better and hit his freethrows but when given time is effective also blocks shots. Very competitve player.
Collins D didn't identify Dixon soon enough, didn't identify MJ starting would help team soon enough, right now benching the young guys a mistake, should have never fallen below .500 , Overall strategies are very questionable, erratic sub patterns puzzling. I feel he reacts to what other teams do too much and isn't agressive enough making teams adjust to his team.
Overall team grade C have been very up and down haven't been good for long stretch's but have been bad for some. Maybe turning a corner now though.

I'm grading them based on expectations and not actual production.
And yes, I would give Mike an A+. He's 40.
