Wiz: Eric Neel Blasts Wiz from ESPN page 2
Here are his comments on our beloved Wizards:
I see the Wizards are 17-13. Is my computer on the fritz?
They barely outscore their opponents and they have a lower shooting percentage than their opponents from both the floor and beyond the arc. Their "big" man is about as intimidating as Harvey the invisible rabbit. They've beaten the Nets three times and the Bobcats twice. Miami's dined on their innards on four straight occasions.
Your computer is fine. Give it a slap to the head and wait a while. (Check the March schedule; 10 of 15 on the road.) Should they make the playoffs (which is possible, in the same way that it's possible my city rec team could make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference), the Wiz will receive much the same treatment.
Is he right?

No, the reporter's just retarded, sure we have a lot of problems, but he's being ridiculous. Brendan Haywood is a good big man, i think he might be refering to ruffin and jamison, not mentioning the fact that Kwame and Etan are injured. He thinks the east sucks this year, which they don't and he refuses to look at a record and admit that this is the wizards. I don't get it, Orlando has a lot of the same traits as us and they get no crap? w/e.

Yeah that makes no sense to me that Orlando doesn't get any crap. The Wizards have 3 20ppg players and are missing two key frontcourt players, so we aren't even nearly healthy yet and still have a better record than that idiot probably predicted.

I thinl some of the criticism is valid. some of it is not. The stats don't lie.
Did he mention that we've already played the Heat 4 times. because we'd surely have 2 less losses had we played them as much as a normal schedule would allow.
I think the point of whats happening with us is that we're better than the bottom feeders and not as good as the top teams that puts us somewhere near the middle.
That maybe annoying to the guy or something. He maybe used to us bottom dwelling.
I know exactly where we are as a team and I don't think we're being hyped unreasonably at all.

I hate when these idiots point out that we have 10 of 15 on the road in March....I guess he was listening when Ric Bucher talked about it? What these idiots don't understand is that we are going to have just as many home games left as road games...who cares when they are?? Sure, we will have to play well to win in March, but we'll have a number of home games to pad our record before then. I guess we have to expect this, though, after years of futility.
People bend stats however they like. If the Pistons barely outscore their opponents, it's a team that knows how to win close games, but if it's the Wizards, then we're lucking out. What eastern team hasn't Miami dined on? So what if we beat the Bobcats twice and the Nets three times...should we have traded in a loss to them to beat the Heat....a win is a win!
Gawd, I get sick of these so-called "experts." We're only 17-13, anyways....there are years when a record like that wouldn't get any hype, but the East is very weak. This is the first week we are actually getting some cred from places like ESPN, though, so I really hope we make these guys eat crow against the Sonics tonight.
I guess this type of writing can be expected from an ESPN page 2 guys, though, since it seems guys like Tony Kornheiser, Wilbon, and page 2 are paid to make corny jokes and make fun of everything without even watching the games.

Lots of Wiz coverage today on ESPN. Unfortunately I read Peter Mays article and came across this gem "The Wizards are sixth in the NBA in scoring, another indication that Jordan's offense has clicked. "
I don't think any of these fools watch actual games.

few more good ones from Legler: - Coach Eddie Jordan deserves a lot of credit for adapting the Wizards' style to the personnel.
- Jamison's ability to score in the paint means the Wizards don't have to rely on making a high percentage of long-range jumpers to consistently score.
- Haywood shows great promise on certain nights, but gets in foul trouble too often and is forced to sit for long stretches.
Perhaps I'm just seeing things but hasn't Antawn been relying HEAVILY on his outside shot recently?
And when has Wood been in foul trouble? He's sitting because EJ takes him out.

I would say he is wrong on all three:
1. He did not adapt his style, this is his style
2. We do rely on making a high percentage of long range jumpers for the most part.
3. Haywood has not gotten into a lot of foul trouble, more often, EJ just sits him.

The East does suck this year. How do you figure they don't? You can count the number of really good teams on 1 finger.
Miami is the only really good team in the East this year. Cleveland is decent but not really good. The Wizards are also a decent team but probably not a top 10 team in the NBA. The Pistons are struggling this year.
Indiana would be really good but we all know that story.
The Wiz did have a nice win against Seattle but the other 4 wins against the West were:
a struggling Grizzlies to open the season
a horrible Hornets team
a mediocre Laker team ( was on the road so that was good )
a bad Warriors team
I like the Wizards and maybe when they get Etan back they will be even better. I think in the East the Wizards could get past the first round of the playoffs but is anyone in the East going to stop Miami?
