All Stars
I want to get this out right now.
If Gilbert Arenas does not go to the All Star game, a crime will have been committed. He has been breaking players down and almost scoring at will. His numbers have been getting better and better, and he is leading the Wizards to their best start in 20 years.
At the other guard spot, Larry Hughes has also been playing out of his mind, relentlessly attacking the basket like never before. I am not sure what clicked in his head, but he is finishing with authority, whereas in past years he would finesse it. He is averaging 21ppg 6rpg 5.2apg 2.74spg right now, leading the Wizards in assists and the league in steals.
The sad thing is, Jamison may be the only Wizard to make it because he is one of the better forwards in the conference, while there are plenty of guards.
The best part of all of this is that Arenas just turned 23 and Hughes is about to turn 26, on 1/23.

Yeah I think everybody has seen this coming.
Jamison is the teams 3rd best player. But he is a forward, so maybe for the first time in I don't know when, the 3rd best player on the team may make the All-Star team while the 2 best players don't. It's possible, and I think it would get some backlash from Wizards fans.
About a month ago I was cool with it. I figured Arenas and Hughes were playing great, but I wasn't sure if they were putting up numbers that would put them in the All-Star game.
But lately, it's so obvious that Jamison is more of a roleplayer than an All-Star. He scores erratically, and chokes in the clutch. And watching Arenas drop 37 on the Lakers, and than 40 on the T-Wolves, he definetly deserves a spot. He's turned it on in the last 20 games, averaging 24/5/5/2 on over 45% shooting with great 3-point and ft percentages. Arenas should absolutely make it over Marbury/Redd/Pierce. I don't think the national media still understands how good Gil is, he can basically score at will right now at a young age. If he develops his passing game he'll be unstoppable.
I'm very unsure of what will happen, but I think Arenas/Hughes may end up getting robbed and Jamison will be our representive.

I think Arenas really deserves it. He has been spectacular. He's been tenacious especially at the end of games.
His decision making has improved so much its like night and day compared with last season. To me there isn't another guard in the east playing as well. Well Maybe Wade but thats it.
Hughes deserves some consideratioin although I don't think he makes it. He has been dunking everything when it comes to going to the hole. Playing very strong and surprisingly really hitting the 3.
Jamison shouldn't make it. He's been steady most nights . He has taken his game almost exclusively to the perimeter. Late in games he has been terrible. He has airballed free throws gotten his shot blocked, and against the Wolves choked away the free throws.
Arenas has been the most consistent Wizard. His defense on the perimeter is even improving some.

I think Jamison will definately make it. And I think Arenas has a great chance. I dont think Hughes has much of a chance because the east guards are very very strong, and there wont be two guards from the same team making it, and Arenas is better than Hughes.

Wade accomplished this in two consecutive series in the 2005 playoffs.
2. Joined Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Allen Iverson as the only players ever to record games of 40+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 15+ assists in the same playoff season in 2005.
3. Holds the record for being the only player in NBA history to ever average at least 30 points on 69.5 field goal percentage for four consecutive NBA playoff series games (5/23/06-5/29/06). The last record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 63%. Wade accomplished it with less than 20 field goal attempts per game
4. Fifth player in NBA history with at least 30 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds in a playoff game (5/10/05 vs. WAS). The others are Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Walt Frazier and Oscar Robertson.
5. One of four players in NBA history to have at least 30 points and 12 assists in three consecutive games (November 24-27, 2006). The others are Oscar Robertson, Nate Archibald, and Kevin Johnson. [5]

Jamison is horrible right now, I don't think he deserves it, Arenas and Hughes deseve it but if "Gil Arenas " (quoted by Steve Buckhantz) doesn't make it, then it shows that All-Star games suck.

I think Hughes deserves it more than Arenas just because he's improved so much and his stat line is most impressive and is all-star quality. Arenas is clutch this year and is looking great, but Hughes is just play so good.

The guy is having a huge season and his numbers are more than worthy of consideration. He leads the league in steals and is first in Nestle Crunch-time ratings. He and Arenas should be on that team. The so-called name players are not having the same kind of year as those two. I hope somebody has the sack to shake things up this year and put in the players who DESERVE it.

tough situation for three wizards right now! Arenas, Hughes and Jamison all deserve to play in the allstar game, but I think Arenas and Hughes deserve it more than Antawn, it's gonna be close, but I think Arenas will come off the bench, altough Larry REALLY deserved it!

Jamison's pretty much a lock to make the team. In fact, with Jefferson's injury it's likely Jermaine O'Neal is going to be an All-Star even with missing 15 games due to suspension. If not, you may even see Okafor on the team as a rookie. Regardless, Vince Carter, Grant Hill and Jamison are all near locks.

Jamison is in a separate category; he isn't competing with Arenas and Hughes, simply against other forwards in the east.
