Etan Thomas

I have no idea why Etan doesn't play more. Nothing but good things seem to happen when he is in there. He very rarely makes big mistakes and his energy is always good. He even has a nice little soft baby hook inside. He has some toughness on defense also.

I just don't get it, especially since I'm not big on Haywood's growth potential.

If Etan was just a bit taller, I would play him over Haywood.

Haywood's size and arms are what really gives him the edge since we are a bit undersized with Jahidi out.

Against most centers he should be fine. He is just as tall as Jahadi though not as wide. I would like to see him get 18-22 minutes a game.

While watching the Spurs-Wiz game, I noticed how much shorter he looked when he was guarding Duncan/Robinson in the post. I also noticed how easy it was for them to shoot over him.

I'm not sure Etan is really the 6'10 he is listed as. He is more like 6'8 with long arms. Against some centers he would be ok, but against bigger, taller centers like Shaq, Ming, Robinson, Divac, etc I'd rather have Haywood guarding them.

I kinda agree but the problem is Collins sees Etan as an either or to Kwame . Kwame plays center alot of times subbing for Brendan so the problem is Laet needs to be pulled more than you could get more Kwame, Etan line-ups. In Collins mind most times its Kwame or Etan not both which is unfortunate, but last night he went with both which is a rarirty. I actually believe Kwame and Etan are our best combination downlow.

I agree but Kwame needs to eliminate his mental breakdowns to reduce L8's minutes.

Not giving Etan minutes is what makes no sense to me.

I agree about Kwame's breakdowns its like he's thinking too damn much just play and not worry about making mistakes. It'll come with time though. As far as Etan is concerned its going to be he or Kwame , Collins hasn't shown the faith other than last night to stick it out with both of them on the floor. More than anything he gives us a guy we can throw the ball in the post that won't make a mistake and will take a good shot. I just hope last night's game gives him more of an opportunity.

This is a good assessement. Bottom line he needs to play more. When he is in the game good things happen.
