Oakley...blah...blah...DIXON

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2003Jan7.html

Oakley is a thug. Oakley does thug stuff. Other players are scared of thug. Dixon cleared for full-scale practices and will probably be activated after a couple of practices. That means someone goes to IR. I would think Cardinal or Simmons, with my preference being Cardinal, saving Simmons to get relegated when Jahidi returns.

Not like Dix will see any time, but hey why not take over Cardinal's cheerleading.

Everyone needs a thug or two. You have to admit there have been three games this year that we 'may' not have won without him.

Are you convinced yet that this was a good signing for the 1 mill exception?

I was loudly criticized on the Bulls board for liking the Wiz signing of Oakley. Oak's game is like buying a VHS player. Almost everyone has DVDs now...but so what.... its nice to go back to the old reliable standby every once in a while.

Is Oak a thug? You bet. But you want him on your team. And for 1 mil per? Not bad at all.

Noch certainly has improved a great deal from the beginning of last year and is probably the most consistent player on our team, at least in terms of how he plays and the effort he gives. He's pretty much always turned up to 11 and it's nice to have a guy like that, even if it means dealing with the occasional mistake.

Glad he's on our side.

Not really sure about Oak , the jury's still out for me. I still ain't all that convinced yet. He has helped some, but his influence is overblown especially in the game against Boston. All he did was foul, Boston shoots alot of jumpers so to say they didn't challenge the lane is a bit iffy. I like his toughness but I think the youngsters maybe just as capable given the chance. We'll see how this thing plays out so far so good I guess.

Fair assessment.

Granted Oak's game is running on fumes at this point... but everything I've heard from TC, Eddy and Kwame concerning him has been good (he was brought in to be a good influence on the youngs for both the Bulls and Bullets) Whether he deserves the minutes he's been getting over a Kwame or Etan or Haywoode... well... I'll leave that for Collins to decide. The Wizards are playing well, so something must be going right.

I feel this.

Off topic Vin whats the skinny on Eddie Curry. I see the Bulls games often on the dish and he just doesn't look like the same player that he looked like he could potentially be at the end of last year. Is their any inside story other than him and Cartwright beefing. I really thought he could be a star but his defense is just woeful. Is he having any off court problems.

Chandler seems to be coming along slowly but surely.

Hey jazzy1.

Well not sure if you caught the game tonight. Eddy put up 15 points on 6-7 shooting. But the kid had 1 total rebound, and 0 defensive rebounds. That about sums up where Eddy is right now. When he gets sustained minutes, he's a good offensive player. But defense and rebounding is what Bill Cartwright preaches, and for that reason EC hasn't been getting much burn.

No off the court problems that I know of. He's a local kid (from the southside of Chicago), but from everything I've seen and heard he has a decent support group and an above average work ethic. My biggest criticism of him is that he lacks passion. He's got the frame and talent to be really good in this league, sometimes I just doubt he has the heart.

Tyson is fine. Right now his game offensively is scrap points (he has a few posts moves, but not many). But from day 1 this kid has played w/ energy and heart. I can't wait til he puts on a little more weight, especially in his legs. I love his defense.. though he gets burned at times, his length and explosiveness have given many opponents fits this year.

Its funny. Wiz and Bulls fans are in the same boat in many ways. Our 'kids' have shown flashes of greatness... warranting the #1, #2 and #4 picks in last years draft. But often these same kids sit on the pine in 4th quarters behind less talented but more reliable vets. It seems Collins and BC employ similar philosophies as well in terms of how they are handling the young bigs. We, as fans, need to patiently wait for their time to come. It will soon enough

For the record, Kwame is going to be a fine player in this league. No doubt.
