Here is the latest on everyone's favorite Wizard at the moment:
A few days after Wizards guard Larry Hughes was drafted eighth overall in the 1998 draft by the 76ers, he went to Philadelphia to play some pick-up basketball with Allen Iverson and Rick Mahorn. Hughes have them to thank for the nickname "Boogie," which has accompanied him from Philly to Golden State, and now, Washington.
"He is only 23 years old and he has such a great future ahead of him," said Collins. "What I love about him is that he wants to be coached and he wants to learn. He's very receptive, he's getting much better on the fast break making decisions, he has worked very hard on his shooting and I'm just ecstatic with Larry."
NEW: I always hear Collins say how Larry loves to be coached. Good news indeed.
One decision that he never thought twice about was leaving St. Louis University after his freshman year to turn pro. At the time, his brother had just had a heart transplant and with no insurance it was hard for Justin to see doctors and get the medication he needed to ensure his survival. Larry took it upon himself to go pro to take care of his family.
NEW: I like this kid more and more.
