ESPN Final Mock Draft(our pick only)

they have us picking

49. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Ronny Turiaf
GONZAGA | SENIOR | POWER FORWARD
HEIGHT: 6-9 | WEIGHT: 240 | AGE: 22

The Wizards need toughness in the paint and that's something Turiaf can provide. With Kwame Brown heading into free agency, he could actually get some minutes next season.

i think if we can get him, we have our selves a steal! what do you guys think?

Sure, as long as he can make a jump shot. I also like Sean Banks.

I would go with Sean Banks if he is still available. Brandon Bass and John Gilchrist could also be options. Turiaf is picked higher also in some mock drafts.

yeah i like Sean Banks, i actually wish he never got kicked out of Memphis...him, Carney, and Darius Washington would have lead them far into the tournament next year but that dream is gone...

Re: ESPN Final Mock Draft(our pick only)

Draft Express

Ian Mahinmi, C
18 years old, 6'10, 220 lbs.
STB Le Havre, International

Others available around the pick: Orien Greene (PG), Nate Robinson (PG), Travis Diener (PG), Ryan Gomes (F), Brandon Bass (PF)

NBADraft.net

Daniel Ewing, PG
22 years old, 6'3, 180 lbs.
Duke

Others available around the pick: Ronny Turiaf (PF), Travis Diener (PG), Jason Maxiell (PF), David Lee (PF), John Gilchrist (PG)

And yes, I pretty much only looked at PGs (we need a backup) and PFs (we need one, period). I'm not at all stuck on that idea, as in the second round, you go with whoever you think will be the best player for you. However, all other things equal, I definitely go for the PG or PF over a swingman or center.

Who I like for some reason or another:

* John Gilchrist - I admit, I might just be biting the hype of some BBB posters too hard, but I like him. Sounds like definite first round talent with some nasty baggage attached. These types are tricky, but can pay off. With the lack of a guaranteed contract, I think it's well worth the risk.

* David Lee - isn't the tough guy we need, but is a smart passer and decent enough midrange shooter who would fit in nicely with our offense. I really want a big that can play 13-17 feet well, and Lee sounds like he can do that.

Who I don't love:

* Ronny Turiaf - sounds a lot like Etan Thomas to me. Exactly like Etan Thomas. Could be insurance for all the games that Etan misses with injury, but as a whole, a bit too redundant.

* Travis Diener - sounds a lot like Steve Blake to me, in that he puts in a hard effort and has a lot of nice sounding skills, but many of the areas he excelled at in college will suddenly not work nearly as well in the pros. I wouldn't have a problem with him, but he would hardly excite me. Then again, when you're looking for a backup PG to play 12-14 minutes a night, maybe that's not so bad. Eh ... wouldn't be happy or upset I guess.

Hopefully I'll be able to add a bit more before draft time.
