Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
It hurts, but I'm pleased that the team didn't offer him more than that to stay here (or Hughes didn't accept it, either way). I'm glad we found this out now though, as we can begin to figure out our new plan early into the offseason. I'll be back after work with some more thoughts.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
Can you say overpaid? Hughes isn't worth 12 million a year.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
Now the Wiards are in the Joe Johnson sweepstakes if this is true. I definetely don't trust nbadraft.net especially after they called Deshawn Stevenson the next Michael Jordan.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
If the Wizards don't land Joe Johnson or another solid SG, this won't be classified as a good offseason.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
Can any of you Wizards confirm this deal?
Haven't seen anything on the big news sites about this so I'm still wondering if it's a rumor

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
I haven't seen anything. If the Wizard don't acquire a shooting guard, Juan Dixon could be brought back as the starting shooting guard, because Hayes may not be ready at the beginning of the season.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
It makes sense that we wouldn't match 12 Mil a year, thats a ridiculous contract... If we get Joe Johnson i would be happy, if not happier then i would be if we resigned Hughes.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
First, this hasn't been picked up anywhere else, except as something that NBADraft.net is reporting. Second, David Aldridge said yesterday the Wizards had not lowballed Larry Hughes and that they had given him a very fair offer. I am not sure that goes with NBADraft.net throwing out a disgruntled Larry Hughes bit.
Now if what David says is true, if Hughes can get $12million per year from the Cavs, he should do it. I do not want him at that price. Granted, we will probably not be able to replace his scoring, or his steals, but we can get as much out of a new SG and PF, which appears we are going to get anyway.
Joe Johnson is not going to happen. Bobby Simmons is a risk because he came off of a contract year as well. Can Hayes step up and give something to the Wizards at SG? We shall see.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
Looks like Hughes is officially a Cav although there still appears to be an opportunity for the Wizards to match the deal.

Re: Larry Hughes is a Cav!
Chad Ford is reporting Hughes is gone for 5 years and between $65 and $70 million. The Wizards had offered 6 years $70 million.
The Wizards did not low ball him, and gave Hughes a fair offer, about $11 million per year. The Cavs needed to get a signing and overpaid for Hughes, and everyone out there has to agree that $13 to $15 million per year for Hughes is overpaying, but it was something the Cavs had to do.
Good luck Larry.
