As for Ricky Davis, yes, the Wiz could have offered the same contract to him as Hughes. After the Cavs matched, they still would have been looking for their next player.

Compared to Buckner, Hughes shoots better from the field, from 3 and scores more than 100% more pts in 50% extra time.
Hughes numbers are significantly better than McInnis as well even if you do Jeff the favor of pro-rating the stats to 48 min/game.
Again, this would indicate that the Wiz made the right move offering more $$$ to Hughes.

Bigs do get paid more than smalls for lesser performance. Hence, Bender, a 7ft swingman, got more coin than Artest and Hughes.
Saying that it is rational to pay Foster $3.8M and not rational to pay Hughes $4.5M is really, really a stretch.
If this were true, next I will hear that Bagaric should expect more money than Fizer and Crawford when their contracts expire.
