Kwame is severely underrated
I just cannot understand all this talk about trading him just because he is not putting up numbers that satisfy
He is going to be one hell of a player when he gets it together and all this talk that categorises them so early on like Mark Brown on ESPN the other night in the Pacer game
In another year or two he'll become that 12 point 10 rebound guy
I would think the expectation for Kwame given his skill and his size would br greater
Its like some crack one of the national commentators made about Eddy Curry a fortnight ago before Eddy started getting it together ..... something to the effect that he is a bust because he is soft
These guys are 20 for crissakes - college sophs
Ever since Bill has put Curry and Chandler out there more they have found confidence and done well . We're about the same win /loss ratio since the allstar break when before that they were not getting the opportunities they should
This is the key with these guys - CONFIDENCE. Sure they are going to mess up but you have to let them play through it and develop
What Kwame is going through is similar to the tenativeness and unsuredness that was plaquing Eddy Curry earlier in the season
Mike and Doug may think they are giving him tough love and you have to be cruel to be kind - but sometimes cruelty is just cruelty
Kwame is a great talent and like Eddy you can't ride him too hard and make him into something that he is not .You have to have regard for who he is as a person - what he responds to and what he doesn't and work with him
I just wonder exactly how much of a good influence Oakley is and what the benefit is and playing L8'ner heavy minutes at the expense of Kwame's development
Kwame is the future with Brendan and JJ - sure JJ is out right now and even if he was healthy it would not be prudent to play him and Kwame heavy minutes at once - but a front court of Hayward, Brown and Jeffries - I think is potentially the best in the NBA within 3 - 4 years
Let Stack go - make a play for Maggette and keep Hughes . I would also be inclined to keep Lue
I would try and deal L8'ner and open things up for your big guys and then sign or trade for someone a little bit more versatile who can cover 3 front court spots and still give you vet productivity
But ... I know its frustrating and easy to do right now because he is not producing like a #1 pick .. but Kwame is going to explode and when he does all talk that limits what you think he is or how you would be better off without him is crazed
If you could ultimately put a line up out on the floor of
Hayward
Brown
Jeffries
Maggette (@ $6M to $7M )
Hughes
bench
White
Thomas
Marshall
Dixon
Crawford
What do you think of Marshall and Crawford for Laetner and your 1st round draft pick ( top 3 protected ) Marshall and Crawford expire at the same time as Laetner

Kwame's going to be fine, Trading him would be a terrible mistake. whats funny to me is that people run hot and cold when it comes to kwame and the Bulls young guys. 1st Kwame is better Chandler and curry are terrible. Then its Chandler is good ,Kwame is good, Curry is bad. Now its Chandler and Curry are okay Kwame is bad. I have the same opinion I've always had irregardless of a good game here or there. Kwame's going to be a stud. Chanlder is going to be really good and Curry is going to be a force offensively. I think kwame's better than the Bulls guys and in a couple years it'll pan out . All of them are going to be good to great players. There's too much panic placed on young guys who need time to develop.

If the Wizards make the playoffs. It will have been well worth it. If the Wizards miss the playoffs. It will still probably have been well worth it.
Letting Stack go might happen if he opts out. That in my opinion is doubtful. That means the Wizards will be left with just over the MLE to grab another player. Looking around the league and at possible FAs, I have no idea what that gets you. I doubt it nets Magette.
As for the trade suggested, I wouldn't necessarily mind it. The Wizards will be losing Oakley and MJ next year, so they will need a tougher rebounder than Laettner and another guard. I am not sure what would be available with the Wizards pick, so I am sure it would depend on where it was.

If Stack opts out (which he isn't), I think we would have around 12 million in caproom BCH.

Yeah. I wrote that wrong. If Stack opts out, I figure we have $11M in cap room. If he doesn't, we have about the MLE.

With Stack - the focus is always going to be in your backcourt - and that's not what where your strength is long term.
You guys have a killer front court that has to develop and Maggette I think can still give you production and be deferential to that

It's called bandwagoners the worst type of fans and evaluators in my opinion.

FJ, I agree with you but at the same time allow for the fact that we may be completely off-line,
I love the way Kwame runs the floor he just seems to get to his spots faster then almost anyone in the league...he is so quick on the glass, and his skillset, though clearly developing, is well rounded.
Somewhat off topic, Diop is starting to step up as well. He is physically imense, is developing some ball skills and an outside shot. Cavs fans seem to love him for whatever its worth...
But then I watch Sac-town and am amazed at the disparity in talent. Are any of these HS to Pro guys going to develop the feel of a Weber, Bibby, or Stoikovitch. I sure as hell hope so, but the dobts creap in.

Off topic: Any one who thinks the WIz may be worse due to the presence of M Jeff are full of crap.
Besides starting to pull his own game back into shape (he is forty and playing better then he has the last two years???), he has revamped the entire francise.
Haywood, Jeffries, Brown, Hughes and Dixon mixed in with a nice group of vets...not a bad core to say the least.
