Stackhouse has potential, his 1-for-7 performance today and the soliloquy he delivered afterward -- "what we're doing right now ain't for me," he said -- may hamper his standing in Jordan's eyes.
I agree. You're a big puss, Jerry.
Clearly irate, it was only later, when Jordan was queried about whether his frustration would drive him to extend his stint in a uniform one more season, that a smile escaped his lips. "Are you nuts?" he asked, laughing, although his mouth quickly curled under again.
"All it has motivated me to do is know that some of these guys may not be here next year when I go back upstairs."
That was possibly the strongest statement I've ever heard from the leadership of an NBA team.

I've heard of the double nickel but not the nickel referring to the 5 points Stackhouse scored. It ain't for me who are we kidding if he was capable of dropping 39 points I'm sure he would've gotten his chance. Essentially what Stackhouse is saying is that he can't play with a great player. Stack was on the floor by himself at times and was attacked more than Rip was all last year.
Stackhouse isn't going to do us a favor and opt out so this frustration may continue. For him to imply that somehow he's getting frozen out is stupid. He plays no defense and doesn't know what the hell a good shot is.
MJ should get rid of some guys nothing really bold about that.
BCH you're right though he sure didn't mention any 21 yr olds. Thank goodness, Kwame played well at times today.

Funny how a couple teams made mention of wanting Kwame.

"Until those guys let go of that macho, cool attitude and all that and do the necessary things it takes to play the game of basketball, it's going to be tough for Washington to make anything. I'm doing everything I can to try to verbalize as well as physically show what it takes to win. It's up to them to receive that."

"I can't do anything if I don't have the ball," Stackhouse said. "Just play, man. I'm just playing. Man, talk to the coach. Talk to the coach. I ain't got the answers. That ain't how I play. I've been in the league seven years. They've seen me play. They know what I do to get off.
"What we're doing right now ain't for me. [Jordan] is flowing well, other guys are involved. Guys constantly attacking me, attacking me. On the other end, I'm running [to open] space out on the other side. I probably got a 30-point career average against Allan Houston and I can't even get a ball on an [isolation]. Talk to the coach about it."

This could get ugly. Really, really ugly. MJ is not a teammate you ditz around with. And I can't imagine what he's like as an executive.

I agree BUT Stack seems to very smartly place his jabs more with the coach. Collins has been suspect his whole coaching career. But CEO Jordan is the one who pulled the trade bringing Stack here. So ultimately the blame falls at his feet. This does have the signs though of getting very ugly ,very ugly.

"I can't do anything if I don't have the ball,"
A perfectly on-target self-assessment of Stack's defense yesterday. No pressure, no hustle, no rebounding. You're right Jerry, without the ball you can't do anything. Pathetic.
I heard MJ on TV after the game and he was stressing that offense often didn't matter as much as defense. Haven't read the whole article yet (don't want to spoil my lunchtime reading tomorrow) but I'd imagine that's touched on in the article too.

I really think MJ was targetting Stack in his comments. Everyone else pretty much gave what they could while he was noticeably lacking once again. MJ gets it. A good analogy is the Bulls, the players whine and moan about the triangle, but they give up a ton of points every game, which means they lose. Defense counts.

This could also be a case of "We Stink" Part 2.

He will keep using his wits to do what his body can't,
like he did today when he began trash-talking with Anderson in the second quarter, throwing
the veteran forward off his game to the point that Anderson seemed to have no idea which
end of the floor Jordan was headed toward.
"I got to use my head, use my education of the game to even up the playing field," Jordan has
said, noting, "that's the strong part to my game right now, it's not the physical, it's the mental."
Is this the same guy who unloaded on Jalen Rose for talking trash a little over a week ago? I guess these are what is meant by the "Jordan Rules"?

I see the difference between using one's wits to win (or at least come close) and being a crybaby in a loss myself

FWIW, I was listening to KFNS sports talk in St. Louis today. The local host, Mike Clairborne, a former sports agent, took a call regarding yesterday's MJ's comments and the Wizards. Clairborne indicated he had talked with someone in Washington's lockerroom after the game (he said not Jahidi White), and he said that person confirmed Larry Hughes was one of the guys MJ was referring too.
