That is hardly whining. He states his case, makes his points and arguments, and moves on to say that he isn't letting it affect him, and that he still feels he has a working situation, while voicing his confidence in himself to contribute now and in the future.
Looks like he is saying the right things to me.

Sounds like he is handling the situation much better than others in similar situations. He is displaying confidence in himself and an attitude that he is going to work his tail off to make it a moot point.

I respectfully disagree.
"Nobody can do anything in eight or nine minutes a night. If I don't come in and do something immediately, I'm coming out. I feel like I'm to blame for everything."
Thats a complaint, whining, when he should be a good soldier, bide his time and speak quietly to his coach if he absolutely must say something.
This, however, is a good show of maturity:
"Everybody knows he's in a tough position," Brown said. "I couldn't be Doug Collins. That's why I don't fault him. It's not fair for me to argue or contest what he does when I know he's in a tough spot."
There's more, and it's positive, but I don't want to violate any copyright rules.

What was the question he was answering? His tone certainly doesn't say that he wants to be traded if all he is getting is 8 or 9 minutes to prove himself, as some of his peers have argued.
His statement without trying to read anything into it, states his belief that he feels he can't prove anything in the minutes he is given. He also feels that he is blamed for things that are going wrong. Where is the whine? He is not makign demands for more time either. His comments also don't state that he has not spoken to his coach. Because he isn't making a demand, and that his comments don't intimate that he has kept quiet about how he feels to the coach about how he feels, it is apparent that some reported asked him questions along the lines of the article in order to write this article. This is completely different than if Kwame walked off the floor after getting 5 minutes, and telling the media that maybe he should be traded or that things have to change.
The followup stating his understandings shows he is placing this in the right context rather in letting it eat at him.

I've been saying this about Collins all year. He's been micormanaging the hell out of this kid. This kid is totally right in his beef. I love th fact that he's speaking up for himself and love the fact that he feels he can help this year. He says what I've been saying also that Laet makes similar mistakes but never gets pulled. Kwame has been misused by Collins all year and it has hurt the team. Early in the season when Kwame was given the chance to grow and not be micromanaged we got a taste of his talent.
Bravo to you Kwame for getting that off your chest and letting everyone know that you're not the blame for the problems and that you believe in your skills. I GAINED ALOT MORE RESPECT FOR THE KID FOR THIS.

I don't see any whining in this article. You have to remember that this interfview was sought out by Wyche, not Kwame. I think gettinbranded is seeing something that really isnt there.
Anyway, I agree with everything he said. It is silly to play someone 6 minutes, then take them out based on those minutes. Tonight I was watching the Suns/Kings game, and I paid special attention to Amare...he didn't do anything for those first 8 minutes of the game except foul and miss a few shots and get a few rebounds. There is no reason why Kwame shouldn't be given that same type of freedom.
Another problem is Collins...the guy is a headcase. When Kwame makes a mistake, its like his world just fell apart...when anyone else makes a mistake, he doesnt really care. Its an odd relationship.

I don't think he sounded like he was whining at all.
You really can't show your stuff in 9 minutes a game.

I do NOT like the way they are handling Kwame. MJ, as impatient as he is should not have drafted a high school kid.
This season has become all about getting MJ to the playoffs one more time, even at the expense of developing the brilliant young players they CHOSE.
I hope things are better for him next year. WHEREEVER he plays.
