Ron Artest
Artest is on the block. If we can put together a package not involving Wood, Jamison, Butler or Arenas I think this would be a great move...
perhaps
Etan Thomas (young backup pf/c)
Chucky Atkins(expiring/decent three point shooter)
Jared Jeffries (he is what he is)
Jarvis Hayes (still has potential left/ good "shooter")
a first rounder
a second rounder
for
Ron Artest(all star)
Austin Croshere(big contract, we take off of Indiana's hands)

Re: Ron Artest
Even if the Wizards involve Butler in a move, I'd still do it.

Re: Ron Artest
I'd trade the entire team outside of Arenas and Jamison for him. Arenas obviously isn't going anywhere, and while sending out Jamison would definitely up our defense, it would just weaken our already sad rebounding. Basically, ripping a band-aid off one wound and putting it on another. Outside of those two, they could have anyone.
Can't imagine that would be good enough though. You have to guess what other teams would offer for Artest, and compare that to our potential offer. Kings could offer Stojakovic straight up for him, and that's probably better than just about anything we could throw at them.

Re: Ron Artest
A quick note, if anyone is open to trading Jamison, a very simple swap of Jamison for Artest and Croshere works just fine. I still think Indiana could find a better deal elsewhere in all likelihood, but you never know.

Re: Ron Artest
To add another little something, read in an article that the Pacers are looking more towards young talent in whatever move they make with Artest. I don't know if Hayes or Jeffries are still considered "talent" or not, but you never know.

Re: Ron Artest
Artest would certainly bolster our defense, but in my opinion, teams will only accept Artest if they have strong-willed, experiences coaches- this means Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Jerry Sloan, Larry Brown, maybe a couple of others. I don't think Eddie Jordan fits that mold, but maybe Ernie & Eddie might think they could be the ones to change him.

You gotta imagine Nelson is drooling at the thought, as Peja could help him inch closer to his dream of averaging 300ppg.

Re: Ron Artest
wow. I just read something on realgm. Some poster said that on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the most likely, an antonio daniels + jared jeffries/jarvis hayes trade is a 3

Re: Ron Artest
I'd like to get rid of Daniels. He isn't much of a team player and I think he's just making it worse with Arenas. Never really liked JJ so I wouldn't mind seeing him in the deal. I actually like Hayes and think he'll be a good shooter for us in the right offense. JJ + Daniels for Ron is a steal in my opinion.

Artest's Baggage Outweighs His Talent

Artest, sadly, doesn't get it. Oh, he looks you in the face and tells you what he thinks the appropriate answer is. He's contrite. Folks in authority talk to him and he promises he's going to do better, and he absolutely means it. Then he's intolerably late or disruptive in the locker room or he has no idea what the coach has just said during the timeout huddle. There's nothing to joke about here. It's sad, really, that whatever is troubling Artest is likely to keep him from functioning in a way that will allow him to maximize his contribution to a team of consequence -- no matter how everybody looking on wants to believe he can.
