Last summer, I thought the Wizards did not offer Blake anything, other than the standard qualifying 1-year offer (as Kwame also got).

But in this excellent article (http://www.portlandtribune.com/archview.cgi?id=33140), Blake reveals he actually got a multi-year deal from Washington!:

A restricted free agent, Blake says he turned down a three-year offer for more guaranteed money from the Wizards earlier in the summer to sign with the Blazers.

Did you guys know about this?

Also, I really expected the zards to match whatever offer (cheap) Blake got, and then trade Atkins & someone else for a top-notch PF. Had they done that, things could have been much different.

Clearly, Blake must have been real confident in himself to take such a gamble, and it looks like it's paying-off. If the current trend continues, he'll be a rich man this summer.

I definitely did not know that. I thought the team basically was ignoring him, letting him do as he wanted this past summer. He must have wanted to play with Dixon pretty badly.

News to me, I was under the same impression. On the other hand, he probably knew he'd never get serious minutes in Washington because Arenas (rightly) gets most the minutes. He chose to gamble with a bad team as a chance to get enough minutes for the next contract. Looks like a smart choice so far, though most his minutes have only been since Telfair got injured. Will be interesting to see how the minutes are split when he's back.
