Wizards, apparently, lining up Chris Anstey
http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/com...E10914,00.html
Quote:
THE door is ajar for Melbourne Tigers centre Chris Anstey to return to the NBA, but he won't know until this weekend if it opens wide or slams in his face.
The Washington Wizards are believed to be most interested in signing Anstey, who last night collected the NBL MVP award before sitting down to decide his immediate future.
If nothing comes of the NBA interest from the Wizards and maybe one other team, Anstey is likely to head to Spain on a two-month deal, although he also has offers from Greece.
Anstey is putting off signing until the door is totally closed on an NBA return, where he spent three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls.
"There is a minute chance," Anstey said yesterday. "There's a couple of teams that have been talking to (agent Leon Rose), and as long as there is a chance, I'll wait to make a decision.

Re: Wizards, apparently, lining up Chris Anstey
dont bother...
anstey is not an nba player.
he's overrated here in aus, hes old and will not help in the nba at all.
pull a guy straight from D league and he'll be better.

Re: Wizards, apparently, lining up Chris Anstey
I remember this dude. He's one of those guy who was drafted in the first round, and when you go back and look at a draft history, you really wonder. He's like 7'1'', 250, but I believe he was originally drafted in 1997. So he may be 30 or close to it, but it seems he can still play at a high level. I don't know what type of player he is...
The good behind this, to me, is that the team is becoming active in overseas and domestic scouting, something that is key building a good franchise.

You gotta imagine Nelson is drooling at the thought, as Peja could help him inch closer to his dream of averaging 300ppg.

Should the Lakers sign Latrell Sprewell?

Re: Wizards, apparently, lining up Chris Anstey
its always a good sign to be scouting OS players.
but not anstey, he's good here because there is no real centers over here to compete... all 6'9 or so.
he'd get banged up, he was about to retire until his team won the title.

I suppose there are worse things than finding a random big man to sign for the minimum. I can't imagine him ever getting any playing time or having any impact though.
