Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

Where you get that info from because NBA.com has him listed at 210. http://www.nba.com/draft2006/profile...yPecherov.html. Either way 230 is still pathetic for a 7 footer.

Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

Perhaps this was the best pick that the Wizards could have made. If the Wizards were addressing their need of size, that's fine. Hopefully, the Wizards did not fall in love with his potential but his actual skill leve.

I believe there were a lot of guards the Wizards could have had in the 1st round that could have helped fill part of the void in their bench including Williams, Lowry, and Shannon Brown. The Wizards desperately needed depth in the backcourt, well someone to replace Billy Thomas. I would like to get a glimpse of this guy in summer league play at least, and if he is good enough, maybe he can develop while playing for the Wizards instead of in Europe.

Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

Why in the world did we pick two international forwards who do the same thing. What was our management thinking? We already have two young forwards (Peter John Ramos and Andray Blatche) to develop. Now we have four who probably won't even play much. I don't see why we couldn't pick up a point guard. Marcus Williams was still available in the first round and Mike Gansey was available in the second. I feel like our team management has no skill in the draft at all, only the off-season. This also makes it tough for us to trade for Garnett over the off-season since we have have like seven forwards now.

Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

I think the Wizards are about to make a trade. These two picks seem to foreshadow that one or more of our bigs are out...

Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

dude, we are developing nobody. we stink at drafting players, and we know that. we at this point, need to stockpile as many young bigs as possible and hope one steps up. Cause at this point, all our bigs are horrid ball handlers, and can't put the ball on the ground...I really hope Blatche turns out to be good, but we're banking on a 2nd round draft pick to come through. yes, some do come through like Arenas, but chances are they don't. so who are we developing? I believe its just Blatche. Ramos isn't even on the current roster, stuck in the NBDL. He mind it, is also a 2nd round pick. So it seems like many of you guys are banking on 2nd round picks to come through?

So I'm all for drafting two bigs, especially two big international bigs. Bring them over now, we sure could use the help. And definately we sure could use the firepower seeing as our current bigs other than Blatche are some of the more offensively inept and inconsistent big men in the league.

Re: Wizards Pick Oleksiy Pecherov (and Vladimir Vermeenko)

We dont have the roster space, plain and simple. We have developmental type players in Blatche, Ramos, Taylor. The best thing right now was to take a guy that we could see develop without having to pay for it.
