it's fairly easy to see what Jordan brought to Washington. It's fairly easy, unless you have an agenda, to see what he leaves here as a player and what he'll have to build on if he has control of the basketball operation upon returning as an executive: He brought hope.
This might be the minimum required in Boston and Chicago where they have all those banners hanging from the ceilings. But when a franchise has been off-radar as long as the Wizards have been, buried in a culture of losing for nearly 20 years, hope is a pretty decent place to start and it's not to be taken for granted.

It also credits Jordan with getting the team under the cap, and building a true organization with a strong scouting department both in the US and outside.

If Abe Pollin allows Jordan to have the final say on all basketball issues, the bet here is Jordan will stay. And he'll be better this time as an executive than he was two years ago. ... Not everybody is Joe Dumars as an executive, great from Day 1. Jordan is too competitive, too savvy and has too fine a basketball intellect not to be better this time around when he moves back upstairs.

Good article. I agree.
